This past Sunday was Chinese New Year. It’s the year of the pig. I took my friend Angela to a fancy expensive new year’s party at Cha for Tea restaurant where we watched a lion dance, had “live” band music with dancing, and ate a 10 course meal. I also dressed up in my “Cheung Saam” (traditional Chinese outfit).
I had to work at my WEM (West Edmonton Mall) job so I had to change at the store. Everyone liked the outfit and made comments about how hight the slits were. (It’s pretty high but the dress is silk, which doesn’t stretch). The dinner started at 6 but I ended at 5.30pm so I basically rushed right on over to the restaurant so I wouldn’t be late.
I get to the restaurant only to realize I forgot about Chinese Time. The only people I saw heading inside at 6pm were caucasian and not dressed up. I was questioning what my ticket said but went in with Ange. Chinese time, for those who don’t know, is between half and hour to 1 hour later than what you agree upon.
So, Lion dance and dinner started about 45 minutes after what was printed on the ticket. We didn’t finish our 10 courses until about 10pm!
