Gregg Lake Campground

Sorry that I’ve left the blog universe for about a week but I went on a camping trip at William A. Switzer Provincial Park this past long weekend with “The Grove”. We ate really well. I made Charlene purchase veggies and healthy junk food (pretzels, dried fruit instead of potato chips and donoughts) but they had plenty of that at the campsite anyways. (Darn that Beau and his choc covered mini donoughts!) bclimb.jpg

Day 1:
Charlene and I drove out there in the morning to meet up with the Damgaards. Charlene pretended to be Jana by dance driving. She and I also dressed up to look for them at the campsite. The provincial park is large and complex with many campgrounds and different sections within campgrounds too. You can see the video of us searching here.
We got there just in time for lunch and afterwards Charlene, Jana and I went climbing in Jasper National Park (link). We were actually greeted by a large family of Sheep as they crossed the highway just 5 feet away from where we parked. Baby sheepies are pretty cute.
Later that night, I showed Jana how to make banana boats and she showed me the best way to make s’mores.

Day 2:
Canoeing at Kelley’s Bathtub. Sue stayed on land to read her book while we canoed around the lake. We had to cross a small pond and then pick the canoe up to cross a small stretch of land and put it back into the lake. Searched around the lake for interesting spots, had a “Canadian Heritage” moment with a loon call while paddling around. (I was like, “Hey, I’m in a Canadian Government heritage commercial!”) The best time though, was when Beau let me “steer”. On the way back from the large lake, after crossing over to the pond, he let me sit in the back, to steer our way back to the boat launch. 4 small circular loops and 3 giant slolam S-turns later, we made it back to shore. Hey, those circles were getting us closer… um, ya… I can’t steer…. I don’t think Beau will let me steer any time soon… haha

Beau later took me through some cool reedy parts of Gregg Lake by canoe where some beavers had made trails to follow. Neato!

Day 3:
Sleep in, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns for brekkie!

After getting back into town, all of us younglings went to watch The Lake House at Gateway 8. Charlene and Jana gave it the thumbs down but I liked it. I don’t know about Beau though. He wouldn’t even sit beside me!! Don’t think it’s cuz I smelled! He was camping out there longer then I was.. No, we all took showers at Beau’s house before heading off…

btw, s’more action is best served without tinfoil.
-Melt choc on graham cracker.
-Cook marshmallow at same time on stick.
-Once choc is melty and marshie is liquidy, place marshie on choc and place another graham cracker on top of the marshie and
-squish!
-lap up excess oozing with tongue before it gets on shoe!

Couple more pictures to come later.
