The Edmonton Rush Lacrosse team had a promotion for $1.00 seats and I rounded up a bunch of us to go. I’d watched/played before so I thought it’d be a great opportunity. It’s a great sport to watch! A little violent, but very exciting. With high energy music constantly playing in the background, you really get into the slashing, hooking, crosschecking and tackling (looks like tackling to me! or crazy checking). The rules were lost on all of us. We never figured them out but reasoned that most were like hockey. Except for the shot clock/timed stuff.
Charlene pointed out that the event is billed as family friendly but some of the heavy metal music wasn’t censored…
The Rush also have a cheerleading team called The Crush Dance Team. It’s not as bad as having cheerleader girls scrape the ice shavings off during commercial break at hockey games. The Crush actually dance during intermission and hand out freebies. And they aren’t in totally scandalous clothing! That’s the most impressive part to me. They had track pants and cropped tops for the first half of the game.
