I can’t believe that in a city of 1 million people, we only have 1 hostel. I thought I just didn’t know where the other ones were located but no, there’s just the one HI Hostel just off Whyte. Well now, a brand new hostel is opening up downtown on Jasper Ave. I hope they do really well. It sounds like it’ll be a great place with posh amenities. I just hope we have enough tourists to support it.
I know that Edmonton seems a bit out the way for some backpackers since Calgary is closer to the mountains and even the Moose Travel Network Backpacker Bus doesn’t even stop in Edmonton (just Calgary on ONE of it’s routes).
At least ViaRail stops in Edmonton (not Calgary)…
Do you think Edmonton is a touristy place for backpackers? I’ve seen a few trying to hitch a ride on Calgary Trail but that’s about all.
