Escaping Guatemala City 16Dec05

We were still dead tired after our journey half way across the world, so escaping Guatemala City was easy – we took a cab to Antigua!!!

This was after our rucksacks had been loaded onto the bus back to the airport by mistake and then removed again.

The road to Antigua was a good one and the journey took around 45 minutes. We arrived at the Hotel Aurora which is a few blocks up from the main square but entirely away from it all. It’s an old colonial place built around a lovely square filled with flowers and a central fountain. Our room was also fitting, with antique furniture, an old tiled floor and shutters on the window. Very chilled. So we dumped the bags and headed out to explore – and get some food!
