Hi,
We are a family of 4, two boy age 6 and 2. We are wanting to go to Mexico over Christmas and are somewhat clueless. I am of the travel-on-a-shoestring variety and my wife is more into the $2K/week house rental with maid, cook, etc. We are both wanting to avoid the Cancun and Puerto Vallarta’s of the world, but from there our interests are way different. We want water. Could be waves…could be warm, still snorkalable Caribbean waters. The names that we have been recommended so far are Tulum, Sayulita, and Akumal (Akumel?). What I think we would both agree on is being in a town where it is not way-touristy but comfortable, water and things to do for kids, and not hugely expensive. Have any suggestions? I know that Mexico is a huge country, but I assume that your experience there so far has helped you form some pretty definite opinions. Thanks in advance, and thanks for the blog (haven’t read it yet really – two year old on my lap). Thanks.
