The Art of Relaxation – Camping July 21-23

So we decided to wing it and try and find a campsite for this weekend on a first-come-first-serve basis. I suck at this. I get all nervous and flustered – anyway, my boss let me go a bit early and we ended up getting a spot at a campground called San Juan by Index, WA. I’m not sure if it would have worked out if we hadn’t had left early though! This was supposed to be a test for me since we’re going to have to wing this RTW. Guess I need more practice.

Anyway, it was a great weekend to get out of town because it was like in the upper 90’s in town. And of course not nearly as hot in the forest. We got up early on Saturday and went for a hike – Blanca Lake – can you say beautiful! This amazing, as John refers to it as, “Patagonia Green” – boy will he be disappointed if the lakes in Patagonia don’t end up being that color – because it’s from melt of the glacier up there. So anyway, we ended up getting down from the hike at around noon and then we were hanging out at the campsite. Antsy John was like, let’s go into Index so we can get a soda for dinner. It’s 20 miles round-trip. So we go. And we come back. And we “relax”. Boy do we suck at this. And we’re going to be doing a lot of relaxing on this trip. Because we’re not going to be working. And will not have TV or a computer except for on sporadic occasions. This should be interesting. I think I have it in me to learn to relax, but I’m not sure if John does. Looks like we’ll be drinking a lot of sodas!
