Still nada

The guy at my hostel is really sad that I’m leaving. He wants me to stay until Christmas. He’s already made me promise to come back again before I travel. This is like – the friendliest hostel, ever.

Re-watched memento last night (its what was on in the living room – note how its a living room here – not a lounge). What an incredibly brilliant film. Did I put it on my list? It should be there – just for the awesome narrative structure. And Guy Pearce’s cheekbones. Oops – missed it. Oh well – honorable mention for my top films.

From popwatch: “Lee Hazlewood died Saturday at 78… Long before country-rock was a gleam in the eye of Gram Parsons (whose early work Hazlewood produced), Hazlewood all but invented the hybrid genre with his songwriting and production work for the likes of proto-surf guitarist Duane Eddy (“Rebel Rouser”). Phil Spector studied Hazlewood’s recording techniques — and borrowed some of his best studio musicians.” Ok – I love rebel rouser. And then it goes on… “was otherwise little heard from until last year when, diagnosed with kidney cancer, he gathered old friends like Eddy to help him record what he knew would be his final album, Cake or Death.” Oh my god. He named his album cake or death. I love it.

Why the forbes list of top-earning stars is flawed.
Boy feels “ripped off” by cougar attack. [Ed: apparently he feels ripped off that his vacation got cut short. Not that the attack was in some way deficient.]

An absolutely brilliant, candid convo. with Frank Oz (have I mentioned how much I’m looking forward to Death at a Funeral?).
The NZ basketball team is named… the Tall Blacks. Ba dum dum.

The Onion has captured my fears of returning home quite succinctly. (Thanks, mom!)
Movie taglines: I really like the one in the comments section for a horror movie about a haunted elevator, “Take the stairs. Take the stairs. For god’s sake, take the stairs!”

From Cleolinda: Cutting Into Wolverine.
Scans: Clive Owen interview in Details. With pictures. Oh, the hardboiled, hate-sexy pictures.

Musica: tear you apart – she wants revenge, again again again – blaqk audio, destroy everything you touch – ladytron, in like the rose – black rebel motorcycle club

I heard that about Lee Hazelwood, too! It was on the radio. I hope he gave credit to the truly brilliant Eddie….

You’re welcome for the Onion article. Having worked for AIG, I particularly liked the insurance touch…
