School in Hong Kong

Hi all,

We’re here at QESOSA Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School, Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong! Larry is teaching English here, and he invited us into their class for the students to get to practise their English! We read from the Wizard of Oz, me narrating, Quene as “Dorothy” with Larry as the “Scarecrow”. Then some of the students asked us some questions, we showed them the blog, when they saw the photo of the school in India, they realised how lucky they were to have this excellent new school. We had a great time, and here are some photos!

Hello Dicky,

good to hear from you. So what part will you play in the Wizard of Oz musical? From last year’s photos it looks like it will be another great show. I don’t think we will make it back to Hong Kong to see you in the musical, but we would really love to! I’m sure Mr. Finnerty will show us some photographs of the show!

we know Larry from back home in Dublin, his sister is my best friend Peter’s girlfriend. We visited Larry in December 2005 where we got a chance to visit your school and help out in a couple of lessons with Mr. Finnerty, that was real fun as I used to be a teacher too, it brought back some good memories! Unfortunately I don’t think we will be visiting your school for the musical this year, but we hope it is a great success!

I think my school is bad!Because the English Teacher is so harsh.Although Early go to school but later to go home.And we can not use the computer surf the other net so I hate it very much!!The school coercion the students to have ICSA.

Yeah most of the kids are ‘good’ students, and I do my best to teach them. 🙂 As you can see from some the very honest posts I can please some of them, some of the time but not all of them all of the time! That’s the life of a teacher!
I am leaving the school in July. I might see you home in Ireland over the summer.

Dear all ! My name is Jitty. I am twelve years old . I study in same school that is Queen Elizabeth School Old Students Assoction Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School.
Mr Finnerty is my english teacher too. The class also are noise in the english lesson.
Some students usually things the english lesson is so boring because they can’t understand what did Mr finnerty said. And maybe we have some chinese words can’t told him so he was usually don’t know what that we need . But I thonk he is a good teacher because he is kind . Once,I want to change my english name that he give me a some names to me . So , I hope he would do my english teacher on F2 and not give us do much homeworks too.

The kids are doing mid-term tests at the moment so I can’t do a follow-up just yet. I hope that they can write to you again and perhaps share some part of the school’s/Chinese culture.

My school,have so much good points,teacher so kind,ask many question they will be willing to explain.The student homework generally,soon complete.Although 5 o’clock
dismiss the class,master to increase knowledge.So I will not complain the school

You have a great school, with so many activities to do, you must all have lots of fun!
In my school we had lots of sports: football, gaa (Irish football), rugby, basketball, volleyball. We also had musicals, just like your school. My favourite subjects in school were science, French and art.

SCHPPLACTIVITIES = ‘school’ activities (is that right Wilson/Walter?)….. nice try!

J&Q – our school team lost 7-0 last Sunday, and Kevin (above) was in goals. Kevin, I think that you are eating too much chicken and ice cream! Try chicken, potatoes and beans…. that’s what we eat in Ireland.

On the subject of football, I heard that Argentina are now no.1 in the FIFA world rankings (thought you might like to know that?).
