Moving further south

Just outside of Queenstown we visited Arrowtown, famous for its Autumn Festival, and from the pics I guess you can see why, some beautiful scenery!Some of the locals got together for a bit of a session!

Esp: Cerca de Queenstown esta Arrowtown un pueblo tipico de principios del siglo pasado, justo pillamos el festival de Otono y entre que las casas eran preciosas y los miles de colores de los arboles, gente disfrazada y el ambiente hizo que el festival fuera autentico.

Vines in the Karawau valley close to where the 1st Bungee Jump ever took place on the bridge over the Karawau river. Cool colours eh?

Esp: Vinas en el valle Karawau cerca del primer bungy jump del mundo sobre el rio del mismo nombre, y ahora imaginaros todo el valle con estos colores..

The ubiqutous New Zealand sheep, no hill would be complete without them! Some 40 million sheep here, thats 10 sheep to every person! Couple of times we were singing with the windows down just to call their atention … so funny..!!

Esp: Literalmente hay mas ovejas en NZ que personas (40 millones de ovejas..! 10 ovejas por persona …!!) y pense que en Irlanda habia muchas, no hay ladera de montana, ni prado ni trocito de hierba sin ellas.. de vez en cuando bajabamos las ventanas de la caravana y las cantabamos para que dejaran de comer un instante y nos vieran pasar…que risa!

On the way to Milford Sound we saw these beautiful lakes, if you look close enough at the photo you’ll see the name of the lakes, cool eh?

Esp: En el camino hacia Milford Sound entre otras muchas bellezas vimos estos lagos.. si te fijas en la foto se puede leer el nombre de los lagos .. Mirror es espejo en ingles, normalmente esta mucho mas calmado pero habia un grupito de patos moviendo el agua.

On the Milford Sound we did a kayaking trip, to avout the big boats of hoards of tourists, some take up to 400 passengers to cruise the fiord. We took the energetic way! Luckily it didn’t rain., this spot is apparently the second wettest place on earth! As you can see in the green picture !! This little bird was following us ..so cute, apparently these birds eat sandflies (and here are millions of sandflies that eat you alive), so they get close to humans to get the mosquitos..fair play to them.

Esp: De Milford Sound dicen que es uno de los sitios mas bonitos del mundo, gracias a esto se esta llenando de ferrys, mas de 2000 personas lo visitan cada dia los fiordos. Una de las maneras de visitarlo sin contaminarlo y estar cerca de los animales que viven aqui es haciendo Kayak …y suerte tuvimos que no llovio, es el segundo sitio mas humedo del planeta. Este pajarillo nos estuvo siguiendo durante un rato, mas tarde averiguamos que estos pajaros comen mosquitos (aqui hay millones que en cuanto te dejas un cm de piel te comen vivo) por eso estan cerca de los humanos asi que buen trabajo!

Us getting to grips with the paddles! Quene showing off the new trend in mini skirts, and a view of quene kayaking towards the Bowen Falls 130m high. We did around 20 Km with high waves thanks to the ferrys.. it burn your muscles ..I tell you! The good part is we saw seals swiming around us (were the water was calm , just chilling out)

Esp: No nos llovio, pero la marea estaba alta y cada vez que pasaba un ferry, teniamos que luchar contra las olas que hacian..! para hacer kayak hay que llevar una especie de faldon que mantiene las piernas seca, nos echamos unas risas probandonos el modelito. La tercera foto es remando hacia la catarata ” Bowen Falls”, mide 130m no parece desde ese angulo verdad ? Solo se aprecia cuando pasaba un ferry al lado.

Milford Sound, awesome, pity about the clouds, but they say 3 days in a row without rain and they call it a drought, so not much sun around here eh!. But nearly all the postcards we saw with beautiful blue sky…we imagine the photographer taking pics every single day until he got the blue sky.

Esp: Pues estos el famoso Milford Sound , una pena que estuviera tan nublado, al menos no nos llovio, aqui 3 dias sin llover lo llaman sequia!!, aqui no da mucho el sol. A pesar de eso casi todas las postales salen con el cielo azul, nos preguntamos como lo consiguio el fotografo ..igual un dia de suerte..!

“The hills are alive with the sound of…” Quene going whoopeeeeee!!!!!! Ruari around this area we nearly make a snowman but we had to climb and it was freeeeeeeezing..! That’s the campervan by the way.

Esp: Un… dos.. tres … uuuuupppsss ..este es el valle que hay despues de un tunel larguisimo que atraviesa la montana, asi que fue un buen momento para estirar los musculos entumecidos de conducir por la carretera con mil curvas y que menos que hacerlo con un buen salto, por cierto detras esta nuestra caravana

We still have some cool things to show you from Aotearoa from our last week in this land, you probably can’t wait to see Chile… neither can we !! We’ll try to squeeze the rest of the pictures in the next post. In the south of Chile apparently the landscape is very similar but no more english speaking countries for us from now on… it is going to be a big change.

Esp: Todavia nos queda por ensenaros mas cosas de Aotearoa de nuestra ultima semana por estas tierras, seguro que no podeis esperar a ver Chile.. nosotros tampoco..! todavia quedan un par de post intentaremos apretujar el resto, aparentemente el sur de Chile el paisaje es muy parecido pero a partir de ahora en todo va a ser espanol… Ya dejamos atras los paises de habla inglesa.
