Kerala – Fort Kochin
Here in Fort Kochin, Kerala, God’s country as they call it here. We’ve stoped to take a nice tour of the backwaters. Lots of lakes, rivers and canals all along the coast, really realxing, and hardly any mosquitos aound!

We also stoped off to drink some coconut milk from freshly cut coconuts
As well as another stop for a typical Keralan lunch, eaten from a banana leaf in place of a plate!
Today we took a very relaxing synchronised ayurvedic massage, with special herb infused oils. A synchronised massage means 2 people give you the massage, so you get both sides of the body messaged at the same time, oh, also you’re in the nip when they give you the massage!!! As per Ayurvedic tradition the men massage the men and the women massage the women… : (
Fort Kochi is a small fishing town on a peninsula, part of the bigger city, called Kochi (Cochin) which also includes Ernakulam accross the bay. At the tip of the peninsula there are some ” chinese” fishing nets and during the afternoon/evening the fishermen pull up and sell the daily catch, you buy your fish here and take it to beachside huts where they cook your food for you. Lastnight some giant prawns, today smaller prawns and snapper fish all for 150 Rs = 3 euros , mmmm delish!!!

Aqui en Fort Kochi, Kerala, lo llaman aqui Tierra de Dios!Hemos parado a hacer un tour por los canales ,hay muchos lagos , rios y canales por toda la costa, muy relajantes y casi sin mosquitos. A mitad de camino en el tour paramos a beber leche de coco recien cogido por uno de los hombres que remaba la barcaza, a la hora de comer paramos para comer las delicias de la zona en una hoja de un platanero como plato…!
Hoy nos hemos dado un masaje de sinronizacion de ayurvedic, con aceites de una hierba medicinal . (me dijeron el nombre , pero 3 segundos despues no podia recordarlo).
Un masaje sincronizado consiste en dos personas te dan el masaje , asi que lado derecho e izquierdo del cuerpo es masajeado a la vez . Ah , el masaje era en pelotillas ..!! Y como manda la tradicion de Ayurveda los hombres dan masajes solo a hombres y mujeres solo a mujeres.
Fort Kochi es un pequeño pueblo de pescadores en una peninsula, parte de la ciudad llamada Kochi ( Cochin ) tambien incluye Ernakulam en su bahia . Al final de la peninsula hay unas redes “chinas” para pescar y por la tarde los pescadores los pescados que consiguen te los venden y en el chiringuito del al lado te los cocinan .
Anoche cayeron Gambas gigantes y hoy “snapper fish y mas gambitas ” todo por 150 Rs = 3 euros , mmmm .. a chuparse los dedos !!!

El masaje era con los pies o con las manos?. Las gambas no serian de la desmbocadura del Ganjes’?, aunque dicen que lo que no mata engorda. Por europa empiezan a caer pajaros, y han obligado a que todas las aves de corral esten encerradas. Nuestra ministra de Sanidad ha empezado a decir como aquel de la Colza, es un bichito tan pequeño que si se cae se mata, Asi vio al principio lo de la gripe aviar, ahora ha encargado millones de vacunas . Esperemos que el nuevo bichito tarde en dar el triple salto mortal , es decir un salto entre especies. Vosotros pasarlo bien. Me encantan las fotos

I’ve seen in a map that the train crash is about 500 kms from where they are now, just in the west coast.
The last thing Quene told me is that there were not cibercafes in the small village where they are, near Goa.
There’s no answer from them, no txt, but they were not in that train. Anyway, we are also worry.

Hi all..!! We are ok , we found a cibercafe , bit more explensive but enought to say we are ok.. chilling out in a Palolem beach , is a resort with lots of tourist , we are all staying in a coco Hut , or bambu place.
There are not plugs on the wall, so we are saving the battery of the mobiles by no swithcing them on… that’s why we are not answering.
All the Israelis are here , we never saw so many of them all together.. we are wondering if is any left there… they all will leave by tomorrow.. Spanish we travel in August they travel in October and they all come here.
By the way James looks like a lobster, we were on the sun for 10 min and the bloody pills for Malaria left his skin very sensitive. I am taking another brand.

Estamos bien , hemos encontrado un cibercafe mas caro , pero suficiente para deciros que estamos bien, relajandonos en la Playa de Palolem, un sitio creado para turistas donde todos dormimos en coco Hut , una especie de chabolila de bambu..a dos metros del suelo . Sin enchufes para cargar los mobiles , asi que los tenemos a veces apagados , por eso no contestamos.
Esto esta lleno de Israelies , nunca hemos visto tantos , nos preguntamos si quedan gente en Israel, los españoles viajamos en Agosto ellos en Octubre.
Ah James parece una gambita , estubimos 10 minutos al sol y las pastillas contra la malaria que toma le dejan la piel muy sensible ..yo estoy tomando otra marca.
Por cierto acabamos de oir lo del tren y lo de las bombas ..
James y Quene : if have You heard a big big UFFFFFFFFFFFF, Dont worry about it . Its our breathing after reading your news. Now we are happy. “tomatito” be careful with the Indian sun.

Just found out about the train crash, that was in Andra Padesh, further east (about 1000km) Also heard about bombs in Delhi too, crazy! We’re both safe though, so no worries!
31st and 1st Nov are big festival days here, Diwali “festival of lights”, the biggest national festival is on, should be a good bit of crack! Heading up to Panjim, capital of Goa, to check out the festivities!

Por cierto se nos olvido deciros que Vasco de gama murio y le enterraron en Fort Kochin, años despues movieron su tumba a Lisboa.
Estuvimos en la iglesia donde le enterraron..pero estaba muy oscuro para fotos 🙁

Anoche salíamos de una fiesta de todos los santos con niños cuando escuché el mensaje de mamá sobre el choque de trenes. Traté de tranquilizarla, pero cuando colgué me temblaban las piernas !
No estuve tranquila hasta que vi que se trataba de otra región y otra localidad.
Ahora cuando no contesteis podremos pensar que “estais de chozas”.
Al no recibir respuesta de los txt, temí entonces que os hubiera devorado la plaga esa de langostas.

… como dijisteis en un posts anterior, la aventura continúa: sentisteis un terremoto, vivisteis un monzón, visteis a lo lejos una nube de langostas y os habeis librado de un atentado.

Hi All ,
Last week in India , I can’t believe we actually survived .. 😉 .. the mosquito bites, the earthquake, and the noise of the cars .. beeing in Palolem beach is like beeing in another country , this is full of tourists ( 5 years ago this place was empty , just a bunch of palm trees ) but thanks to lonely planet and other guides , this place will end up like Benidorm. Let’s enjoy while is cheap and lovely.

We are ok .. James still a bit toasted (thanks to the side effects of the malaria pills ) and the mosquitos are still having fests with us . ..and hopefully we will see you in New Zealand.

He traido un sketch book en el que estoy haciendo dibujillos y escribiendo algunas cosillas , deberia estar haciendo mas , pero estamos moviendonos mucho. aprovechare estos ultimos dias en el paraiso para hacer mas .

Ya solo queda una semana para dejar India , es una pena que no podemos qedarnos mas en Palolem … esto es precioso y los miles de perretes que hay por la playa muy simpaticos.
