Hola desde el Bolson, un pueblecito precioso situado en un gran valle al pie de los Andes. La montañas que se ven en la foto tiene alrededor de 2000m. Lo mas parecido a la tierra media en Patagonia. hasta hay un bosque llamado Lothlorien… donde con un poco de suerte se pueden ver duendes y hadas!! Vistas del cerro Piltriquitron.

Eng: Hola from El Bolson, a beautiful small town nestled in a large valley at the foothills of the Andes (yes these are foothills, at 2000m!!!). This place is a bit like middle earth, there´s even woods called Lothlorien! Views of Cerro Piltriquitron, try saying that after a few beers!

Nos hospedamos en la casa del viajero, a las afueras del pueblo y por lo tanto ves como es El Bolson “de verdad” fuera del centro turistico, casitas de madera construidas por las mismas familias, estabamos en una casita de madera preciosa, con acojedores muebles de maderas construidos por Agustin, el dueño; en verano es el sitio perfecto donde puedes disfrutar de las estrellas con una fogata en el jardin… Para llegar teniamos que cruzar este puente, de dia y de noche con la unica luz de la luna, la linterna para no meter el pie entre los huecos de las maderas.

Eng: We stayed in La Casa del Viajero, on the outskirts of town. A nice spot, a small 3 bedromed wooden cabin on a small organic farm. We had to cross this cable bridge everytime we went into town. A bit shakey, but you should try it at night and with a few hot whiskies in you, scary indeed!

El pueblo tiene el cerro Pilquitron a un lado y un pequeño cerro al otro donde se puede visitar despues de una caminata la Cabeza del Indio , una formacion rocosa y desde donde se puede contenplar el valle del Rio Azul y a lo lejos Lago Puelo.

Eng: Cabeza del Indio (Head of the Indian) rock formation on the other side of the valley, overlooking Rio Azul valley and Lago Puelo in the distance.

Decidimos visitar el Bosque Tallado a pesar que sabiamos que era duro llegar hasta alli, ya que hay que hacer una caminata de 14 Km o coger un Remis (taxi) hasta el parking y subir unas cuestas empinadas durante 3Km por el cerro Piltriquitron hasta casi arriba del todo, la vuelta si que hicimos los 14Km de vuelta andando hasta el Bolson.

Eng: Up on Cerro Piltriquitron there’s the Bosque Tallado (Carved Forest) with 30 or so wooden sculptures. Bit tricky to get up here, its about 14km out of town so we had to get a taxi up to the car park and another 3km hike up the slopes of the mountain, coming back we did walk the 14Km back to El Bolson.

Subir a ver el Bosque Tallado en el cerro Piltriquitron 2260msnm no es facil, no solo puedes ver las piezas de madera tallada ali arria, tambien la vista del valle con el Bolson en pequeñito. Dicen que el cerro Piltriquitron es una de las fuentes de energia mas importantes del mundo.

It´s not an easy hike up to see the “Bosque Tallado” up on Mt. Piltriquitron 2260m. Along with the excellent woodwork there’s a great view of El Bolson down below. They also say that Mt Piltruiquitron and the valley is an important centre of natural energy.

And some more!

Si aun te queda energia subiendo hasta el Bosque Tallado, puedes intentar subir hasta el refugio, estar una noche y subir hasta la cumbre. Nada mas subir al refugio se puso a nevar a lo bestia, asi que recuperamos fuerzas durante un rato ya que nos esperaba la bajada hasta el pueblo. 14 kms.

Eng: About 20 minutes on from the Bosque Tallado is the mountain lodge, where you can stay the night if you feel like climbing to the top of the peak. We just had a bite to eat and some warm coffee to heat us up before heading back down. Oh, just as we got to the lodge it started snowing heavily!

El dia que nos ibamos de El Bolson a Bariloche comenzo a nevar, y asi nos despertamos con todo el pueblo cubierto de un manto blanco.

Eng: The day we left El Bolson for Bariloche it started snowing, so we woke up to a blanket of snow, check out the well in the garden, nice eh!

Nada mas llegar a Bariloche hicimos un muñeco de nieve para satisfacer a Ruari e incluso un perro de nieve, tambien vimos que un restaurante aprovecho el muñeco de nieve como reclamo.

Eng: When we got to Bariloche we made a small snowan and also found one on the streets advertising for a restaurant! Ruari, you happy now? We even turned the snowman into a snow dog to go with the hundreds of stray dogs living on the streets!

Aqui estamos con Cristina Marin, Rutrafe o platera Mapuche con la bandera Mapuche detras y fotos de mujeres con los collares tipicos, nos estuvo explicando los simbolos, podeis visitar su pagina si quereis mas informacion.

Eng: At a craft fair we spoke to Cristina Marin, a “Rutrafe” (simversmith/jeweller in Mapuche), a Mapuche indian who explained to us the Mapuche culture, and their struggle in modern day Chile & Argentina. Check out the links for more information.

Desde el Cerro Campanario se puede ver el Lago Nahuel Huapi, despues de tres dias nevando y lloviendo ya habiamos perdido la esperanza de ver algo, tampoco pudimos ir a San Martin de los Andes por la ruta de los 7 lagos… El ultimo dia salio el sol pero hacia un frio que se te pelaban las orejas.

Eng: From Cerro Campanario you can see Lago Nahuel Huapi and its islands, we only got to see this view after putting up with 3 days solid heavy rain! Due to the bad weather the famous route to San Martin de los Andes, through the 7 lakes (this being Argentina´s lake district!) was closed. Finally on our last day the sun came out so we could take a few pics.

El centro civico de Bariloche con sus construcciones tipicas, nos llovio a cantaros asi que nos pasamos los tres dias tomando chocolate calentito con churros, viendo mercados de artesania.

Eng: The “Centro Civico” (town centre) has some typical mountain style buildings. As it rained so much we didn´t get to take many decent pics, just sepnt the time indoors having chocolate con churros (typical spanish & argentinian winter comfort food, hot drinking chocolate with fried dough pastries), and wandering round the handicraft fairs.

Esta foto, tomada desde el autobus, se puede ver desde lejos Bariloche, vimos una puesta de sol impresionante con los Andes de fondo.

Eng: Leaving Bariloche we took this from the bus as the sun was going with the foothills of the mighty Andes in the background, pity we couldn´t stay for more.

Y despues de 19h en bus…nos apena haber dejado la Patagonia 🙁 Queremos volver para ver todo lo que no hemos podido ver por el tiempo Dicen lque una vez que has venido una vez, tienes que volver… pero ya estamos en Buenos Aires …!!! pero eso lo dejamos para la proxima… Nos leemos!

Eng: 19 hours later by bus we arrived in Buenos Aires… We feel sad to leave Patagonia, is a place we want to come back with good weather to see more, they say once you come here, you´ll always come back .. but we are here finally in Buenos Aires…!
