Hello all again!

Well we’re here in Alice Springs, or just Alice as the locals call it!
A small town right in the middle of Australia, in the desert, very hot, 36-40’C while we were there!
Here’s a view of the town from Anzac Hill looking towards Heavitree Gap in the McDonnell Ranges.
Español Aqui estamos en Alice Springs. Un pueblecito en medio del desierto en al centro de Australia.. el calor seco nos recordaba a esos tipicos dias de verano en España.

First thing we did after we spotted a poster for a nearby baby kangaroo sanctuary when we were checking into the hostel, was head straight there, we met the owner of the sanctuary, Chris “Brolga” Barns, who told us all about how he rescues the little joeys from their dead mother’s pouch, by the side of the road, left there after being knocked down by a car/truck or whatever…
He does great work and for just $5 you can spend as much time cuddling the poor orphaned joeys in their makeshift pouches Check his website for more details here it’s new, but take a look! Here’s us with Archie and Albert, aren’t they just soooo cute. You can even adopt one and take it home and look after it until it reaches 18 months when it’s let back into the wild! Esp Nada mas ver el poster de un santuario de canguros donde les rescataban en el hostel fue dejar las mochilas e ir a verlo, conocimos a Chris “Brolga” Barns, rescata a los canguros y es el dueño de este centro.
Recata a los Joeys (como les llaman a los bebe canguros) de la bolsa de las mamas , a veces sobreviven hasta 3 dias despues de haber sido atropelladas por coches o camiones.
Por solo 5$ se puede abrazar cuantas veces quieras y durante todo lo que quieras a estos Joeys, necesitan que alguien les abraze para poder sobrevivir , si no literalmente no hacen estomago, dejan de comer y mueren.
Asi que estuvimos con Albert , Archie tienen 6 meses , y tienen que estar dentro de la bolsa todo el rato, .. Elizabeth tiene 11 meses tendra que dejar la bolsa dentro de un mes.
A los 18 meses les ponen en libertad ya que mediran 2 metros y a los machos les gusta dar patadas y puñetazos..
La dedicacion que pone Chris con estos animales es increible.. no podrian tener una madre mejor.. 😉

This is Albert having a nap after the bottle of low lactose milk ..we were very fortunate to have these animals in our arms ..without the dedication of this guy more thatn 100 baby kangaroos would be dead for sure.
Next time you are driving in Australia and you find a dead Kangoroo always check in the bag ( if is a female) if the baby has the eyes open , there is a lot of chances that can be saved…bring the joey to a rescue center.
Esp Este es Albert durmiendo la siesta despues de su biberon con leche bajo en lactosa.. nos sentimos muy afortunados de tener a estos canguritos en nuestros brazos..
Si alguna vez estas en Australia y ves un canguro muerto en la carretera , mira la bolsa ( si es una chica) si hay un Joey y tiene los ojos abiertos , se le puede salvar , llevale al centro de rescate mas cercano.

How they get into the mothers pouch.. Elizabeth baby Kangaroo older than the other two, is going to show you:
1. I check that the pouch is clear and I get into position.
2. Getting my head first I rolled over, head first and leaving the legs sticking out.
3. And here we are , comfy watching the world around me from Chris arms.

Esp Como los canguros se meten en la bolsa de las mamas, Elizabeth te lo va a explicar:
1. Miro dentro de la bolsa para calcular el espacio y coger posicion.
2. Introduzco mi cabeza y hago una voltereta dejando mis patas fuera.
3. Y ya esta , desde aqui comodita miro todo lo uqe pasa alrededor mio en los brazos de Chris.

I am not really into flags as sometimes divides more people than it unites , but for the people is not familiar with this one, this is the aboriginal flag. The red represents the land , the black represent the aborigen people and the sky and the yellow circle in the middle represents the sun.. beautiful..!
Esp No soy muy fans de las banderas , porque a veces dividen mas gente que unen , pero para los que no conocen esta haremos una excepcion, esta es la bandera aborigen. El rojo representa la tierra , el negro representa su gente y el cielo y el amarillo representa el sol.. preciosa!

This is Maggie Nelson , and aborigen artist working under the shade of a tree near the Museum, we had the oportunity to chat with her about her painting… a dreaming with honey ants and bush tuckers ..sometimes by selling their paintings is the only decent money they can get… we wish her all the best.
Esp Esta artista es Maggie Nelson , pintando bajo la sombra de un arbol cerca del Museo, tuvimos la oportunidad de hablar sobre su pintura , un sueño sobre hormigas de Miel y Bush Tuckers ( una especie de gusano) , vendiendo pinturas a veces es el unico dinero que ganan.. La deseamos lo mejor.

Gotta run now, to the airport to catch a flight to Cairns, Tropical Northern Queensland!
