Adios South America – Hola Europa!

Well, just a few more photos of our last few days in Buenos Aires, and South America after a year of travelling around the continent and experiencing life in Buenos Aires, the New York of the south.

Sad to leave, but moving on to pastures new/old, looking forward to getting back and seeing family and friends, but sad to leave friends here behind here in BA, and other spots around South America.

So we’ll leave you with a few of the pics we took from the last couple of weeks spent here in BA.

Boca Juniors winning the Copa Libertadores, they beat Brazilians Gremio Porto Alegre, we watched the match in Jorge’s place then headed into town to the Obelisk were the celebrations were in full swing.

My lickle sis Mel’s visit to South America! Mel and her mate Sarah are on their own mini round the world trip from Australia via South America, then Ireland, then Turkey and back to Oz! Here we are in Puerto Madero, check out the Charlie’s Angels pose! Then strolling through San Telmo, and Mel with the angel in Recoleta cemetery, resting place of Eva “Evita” Duarte de Perón

The famous Obelisk! Then there was my birthday! All our mates were there! There was even a birthday cake, well 2 actually! We made an attempt to make jelly, and it was all looking good until Mel got her hands on it! All over the floor, we managed to save a handful, but even that got a life of its own and ended up all over the inside of the fridge!!! Haven’t laughed so much in ages!!! It was a good night!

ESP: El Obelisco de noche! Luego el cumpleaños de James! Vinieron muchos amigos.

Here we are strutting our stuff in Pacha! Crazyyyyyy, they had some really bad strobe lights, which kinda explained why so many people were wearing shades, these strobes are banned in Europe, the do end up burning your retina, not good! Then there’s the girls at the Cafe de las Madres, home to the mothers of the 30,000 missing people who dissappeared during the last dictatorship in the 70s.

Well guys that’s pretty much it from here, thanks soooooo much for following us around the world, and we hope you enjoyed it even just a little bit, maybe not as much as us, but hopefully a little! It wil be difficult to get back to reality, but while we’re at it, we’ll keep up with the travelling theme, there’s lots to show you in Spain, which is where the next post will be, so keep tuned!!!!

    Hi Jean,

pretty cool in winter, anything between 1’C and 15’C but nothing like Ireland, not much rain, moostly rain in Summer/Autumn.
I sent you an email too.
    Nice to hear from you!

    Richie,
yea was great seeing Boca win!
Now if only the Irish Rugby team get their act together we might get a decent revenge in September when we play the Pumas in the World Cup in France.

Mañana nos vamos a Pamplona …!! EEEEHHHH

    Bueno luego mas
    Besotezzzzzzzzzzzz

Well guys and gals, guess we’ll be seeing you soon then!! One word of warning, which I thought I’d see all over the comments here, but didnt – THE WEATHER HERE SUX ASS DUDE!!!!! It just doesnt seem to stop raining, and whats making it even more annoying is everyone is talking about the weather – kinda boring you know!!!! Anyway so Im just warning ye! Dont forget to give us a shout when you are back here.

  17. James & Quene 17 July 2007 at 11:55 am #

Mmm… not sure how soon we will be back then if the rain keeps up. Yea, have been hearing all about the rain for the last 6 weeks or something like that, whenever I call home, it’s like, rain, rain, rain…

It would be a shame to cut the summer short (i.e. leaving Spain!) and have to wait another 10 months to see the sunshine again… ooohhhh just the thoughts.

My sis Mel was back from Oz for a couple of weeks, and told us not to come back, it’s been raining all the time…

So did you guys get tix for the Electric Picnic? Line up looks great, I see tix are sold out though, boo hoo…

    Be seein ya soon(ish…)

I’ve got opposite side of the scale at the moment, I was up in the snow at Mt Buller doing a bit of boarding the other week. Melbourne is cold and no central heating or insulation in the houses. brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! hmmm judging by the flags it seems your back in Oz again guys, you got any witnesses to back up your claims about being in Madrid, no wonder the next post is late ;).

  19. Mairead Fagan 18 July 2007 at 9:32 am #

ah ha electric picnic indeed and we did get tix for that. Was a little disappointed that there aren’t any typical *big* festival acts of the moment like Arcade Fire, PJ Harvey, even Kings of Leon who were apparently brill at Oxegen. However, there are some good smaller bands on the line-up which should be interesting. (Note here I never got majorly into the Beastie Boys, Primal Scream or SOnic Youth back in the day) . My personal highlight will be Bjork, who from what I’ve seen of her latest live performances, is looking pretty damn good. I missed her back in 97 when she played the Olympia and I had an ear infection 🙁 Got her latest album, very good indeed. You guys enjoy SPain for as long as you can, sure everyone will be on hols from here til the Autumn!!
