Boycotting Russia
Russia pisses me off. Not in a red commie kind of way, but a Putin´s an asshole and their visa requirements are a fucking joke kind of way. My original plan was to hop a train to Moscow from Tashkent and enter Europe through St. Petersburg but the $200 (minimum) that the travel agency in Kyrgyzstan was charging made me change plans. Right now to obtain a tourist visa you need a letter of invitation, hotel vouchers, and proof of insurance while in Russia. All this costs time and money and sends a message to me that says “don´t come to Russia.” I hear you loud and clear Vladimir so piss off.
My opinion of Russia didn´t improve upon arrival in Moscow´s airport, the smallest, most unfriendly, unhelpful airport I´ve been. It´s also notorious for losing or stealing your baggage. Bonus. You can buy a giant glass bottle of vodka in the shape of a Kalashnikov in one of the numerous duty free stores, but if you want to know which gate to catch your guaranteed to be late flight, good luck.
