The Best and Worst of my Trip!

TOP 10 THINGS I’VE SEEN OR DONE

    1:
Sunrise with Cathy, Mat and Steph at Srah Srang, Angkor Wat, Cambodia. It was just out of this world!!!

    2:
Jogging accross the Great Wall of China from Jinshanling to Simatai. Listening to my mp3 player, no tourists, great weather and views, totally breathtaking and unforgetable. Also finishing of with the jump from the wall and the zip line to the bottom.

    3:
Visiting the Temples In Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Three day pass for $40 was the best money I spent on the trip and also had the company of Cathy, Mat and Steph.

    4:
Spending Three days in Halong Bay, Vietnam, including visiting caves, treking and climbing a mountain on Cat Ba Island.

    5:
Visiting Hill Tribes, riding Elephants and Bamboo rafting in Chiang Mai. Cant do that everyday in England!!!!

    6:
September Pre Moon and Full Moon Parties with Johno, Jim, Murphy and Chaz. Crazy times…

    7:
Trying the local foods in all the countries Ive visited, especially Vietnam with Cathy as we ate in some places Im sure tourists just wouldnt try.

    8:
Laying in my Hamock at the Chakona resort, Ban Tai, Ko Phangan and just chilling with friends and the great staff in Sept and Nov.

    9:
Murphy, Chaz, Jim Johno and myself taking our motor bikes deep into the jungle in Ko Phangan untill we could go no further, what a day trip.

    10:
Walking up and down the Koh San Road, Bangkok, Thailand at night and just seeing all the charactors and madness that goes on there, hours of fun, even more so after a few Changs…

Top 10 ANNOYANCES OF THE TRIP

    1:
The Road from Aranya Prathet/Poipet, Thai/Cambodian Border. Old bus taking over 8 hours on the worst road you can imagine to cover 47 miles, total trip time 21 hours.

    2:
Children begging, especially in Cambodia. Its heart breaking but you cant give or help everyone but you feel like a shit walking away and ignoring them 🙁

    3:
    MOSQUITOES!!!! Pretty much everywere

    4:
People trying to scam you out of cash, especially in Bangkok.

    5:
Ladyboys!!!! even the locals cant tell the difference, just puts you off everyone.

    6:
Backpackers!!! Sounds strange but its like a sport, every backpacker has to have travelled for longer, travelled further, jumped off bigger rocks, also no need for beards or dreadlocks, just cause your travelling doesnt mean you do not have to shave wash or get your hair cut.

    7:
Patpong Sex Shows, Bangkok, Thailand. Its a must see but the girls look so unhappy it’s sad to see them have to do the things they do just to make a living.

    8:
No Air Con over here means horrid sticky nights.

    9:
Magic Mushrooms + Thai girl that turns out to be a post op ladyboy who then goes crazy on the mushrooms!!! worst night of my life. ( the full story is password protected, need to decide If I wanna share the expierience or not)

    10:
Only being able to speak English, everyone on the road including local peasant kids speak at least 2 languages, makes you feel sort of ignorant, going to learn at least one other language, starting with Thai.

Well guys and girls thats just a quick summary of the trip, I know its not over yet but Im just chilling now so cant see anything wild and exciting happening from now, but you never know!!!!

    Hey Brett

I’m thinking about spending 2, possibly 3 weeks in either Thailand or Vietnam. (I’m from Australia)

Which did you enjoy more? I am thinking Vietnam as I imagine it is less touristy than Thailand and possibly cheaper. Do you think it’s safe for a solo female?

    Thanks

    Kris
