Day 28, Siem Reap

Up at 7.45am and had a full English breakfast, went down a treat.. The German couple decided to head off to a different hostel. Mat and Steph were still asleep so Cathy, Peter and myself headed out on the back of motorbikes to sort our passes out for Angkor Wat temples. We have the use of them all day for just $6 each so cant be bad.

Got to kiosk to find I left my photos for the ID at the guest house, but the do free ones so no worries there, bought the 3 day pass for $40 and we all headed out to our first Wat.

We firstly visited Bayon Wat….

Then visited Ta Prohm…( Were they filmed Tomb Raider in 2000 with Angelina Jolie)

Before visiting Angkor Wat…

There are also four gates to enter the main Angkor Wat complex, North, East, South and I wuill Let you guess the name of the last gate…

To think these and the Wats have been here for around 1300 years and were lost to the jungle for over 500 years, how do you loose something so big? Its on the same scale as everyone just forgetting about New York!!!! Although I do appreciate that information did not travel then like now…
