Day 27, The Road to Cambodia!!!

After yet another night on the Chang I got up and headed out to Khoa San Rd to meet with Chaz who we lost last night to catch bus at 7am to Siem Reap in Cambodia.

No chaz turned up and didnt havetime to wake him up as in different hotels. The bus set of for what was to be the longest bus ride ever, even beeting the bus ride to see the 24 Le Mans race for Steve’Harris’s stag do….

It took about 4 hours to the border and 2 hours messing about with forms and waiting around to get through.

Once through we got onto our next bus….. WELCOME to Cambodia, it was a wreck to be honest. We had to cover around 100 miles to Siem Reap which took around 8 hours!!! roads are yet to be invented in Cambodia, someone should tell them about em….. it was dirt/potholed track for 99% of the way, never have I bounced around so much in my life and not enjoyed it!! Its worrying that the driver stopped 3 times for a power nap, stopped then to Catch an eel before arriving in siem Reap at 1am. 18 hours aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the only thing that got me through it were the cool people I met and as normal I got the music on so at least we had some entertainment.

As expected the bus took us to their hostel ant at 1 am you just cant be bothered to go looking for anything else, also only $3 a night for double room so cant complain really. The guys who run it seem a nice bunch. The crowed Im with consist of Cathy from America, Mat and Steph from Sweden, a dutch guy called Peter, another Dutch Guy I cant remember his name, A french lady and her two daughters and lastly a German couple called Eroll and Anna.
