Leaving Party no2
View of the street carnival from the balcony of our hotel
Okay i’m getting quite into all these leaving parties – let’s see if I can have one in every place I stay for over a week – that’s actually not many places if I stick to my planned schedule!!
Had a fab night on Saturday – apart from forgetting to take my camera – hence no piccies (and the fact that the computers here are always crashing so uploading photos takes forever – which is too long when there is so much better stuff to be doing!). Hopefully I will be able to put some on here eventually off Sejal or Kirsty.
Pretty much everyone came who we invited, the only problem was the security guy didn’t like so many people being there and aparently had complaints that it was too noisy (what us – never!!) so the police ended up coming and saying we all had to go. So we went down to the beach and continued the party there. It was probably a good job really because we had run out of booze anyway!
So we sat on the beach front with beers and had our own miniture carnival with capoeira and a biremboa (no idea how you spell that but it’s a musical instrument that capoeira is done to along with singing), later there was guitar playing and singing, and after that even some swimming!
So thanks to everyone who made it such a great night especially Sejal and Cat (whose apartment it was at and who I have yet to meet!).
Sunday was a bizarre experience – there was a street carnival (des virgens) which was basically blokes dressed up as women and loads of music and huge truck things driving through the streets. There were hundreds of people filling the streets partying the day away and all the roads were blocked off – the Brazillians certainly know how to have fun! The first thing that touched my lips that morning was a homemade capirinha (very strong alcoholic drink!) – what a way to start a day when you already have a hangover!!! Had to go for a quick snooze in the afternoon before going up to Alto de se for the usual Sunday night antics! Basically had a fab weekend and am gutted I am leaving this place, I love it here.
Everyone dancing in the street for the des virgens carnival
Salvador watch out – here come me and Kirsty!
