October 02, 2004Inner city stuff
I decided I'd see the sights of the inner city and finish off my first roll of film. I spent a few hours clicking away (at a very slow pace, I'm sure with time I'll be taking photos by the score) and then went to get them developed and scanned to CD. I headed to my guesthouse and booked in for another 3 nights and then went off in search of an international phone card (not easy to find, but a working international phone is harder). I bumped into Debbie again, she was having a spot of lunch before a job interview, we sat and chatted for an hour or so before she headed off, I'll have to bump into her again as I owe her a drink. I went to pick up my photos only to find that he'd not done then as there were only a couple of pictures on the film then everything was garbled. Bollox! I'll take more of Bangkok when I'm back there again. In the afternoon I sorted out my journal, a few online banking bits and pieces and added to my blog. That's that sorted for a while. I headed to a bar I'd seen, it was behind the main road, a sort of open air space with pool tables and square bars spotted around a boxing ring. In the evenings the place has a cabaret and Muay Thai boxing. I got served by the campest Thai I've met! He decided to have a chat with me and after the usual 'Whats your name', 'where you from' and 'how long you here' he asked 'You have a Girlfriend?' Oh Aye! 'Not at the moment!' 'You like Thai girls? They take care of you very well!'. It's only then I notice the young Thai girl seated a little behind him paying alot of attention to the conversation... The conversation peetered out after that. There weren't too many people in, a few playing pool (the young girl offered to play me) and a middle-aged 'farang' and a middle-aged Thai playing 'Pop-Up Pirate' (I didn't think to take a photo!) It got to 9:30 and thinking that Thailand was 7 hours ahead I thought I'd phone home. I ended up walking all the way back to the guesthouse just to find a phone that worked! It was early so had a couple of more lonely beers before bed. Comments
