February 12, 2004Mr. Anderson???
I don't know what city The Matrix was filmed in (Sydney or Melbourne), but as I walked along the Sydney Harbour Bridge today, I kept thinking I was going to see Agent Smith walk around the corner. Maybe it's the generic highrises that all seemed to look like all the generic highrises in the movie. Go figure. I got a great view of the Sydney Opera House from the Harbour Bridge. From the side, it looks like shark fins, and from the front it looks like gills or and open mouth. The water in the harbor is also much cleaner than I would ever have expected. It's actually green-blue!!! My walk across the bridge was most leisurely and most free something I have come to look for now that I'm destined to ruin my budget here in Australia. Everything is so expensive, or maybe I've just become used to Asian pricing. I didn't expect such a sticker shock at everything. I know I'm in Sydney, which is a major city, but five weeks at OZ prices and my budget is going into the crapper, FAST. I think I am going to have to get out of big cities as much as possible. However, if I want to get to Alice Springs, where you start most trips to Ayers Rock and that whole area, you pretty much have to fly. Ditto with Tasmania. Grrrr!!!!

It's probably better for Agent Smith that you didn't see him. It would've resulted in severe ass-whupping, ending with you kicking him in the ribs and shouting, "You call that a sequel? You call that an ending? I choked on 45 minutes of Delhi air in a rickshaw to see THAT CRAP?!?" Posted by: Ant on February 12, 2004 10:00 AMPC You made it then! We're following you in about a month (mean't to be 22nd Feb, but changing ticket). Is Oz really that expensive? Following Malaysia I suppose it will be - we've diverted to Tokyo! Mega-expensive but a great place. Freezing though - like the UK. Their all mad as hatters here! Posted by: Snazzy on February 15, 2004 10:04 PMSnazzy, I'm trying to arrange a flight to Hobart and it's making me nuts. I want to hike the Overland Track but am too nervous about going it alone... but the damn guided walks are mad expensive!!! Grrrr... It's been fun so far though.
