January 05, 2004Relaxing before a line-up switch
Soon Ant leaves, to be promptly replaced by my sister, Vanessa. It should be interesting to see the difference in travel with each one of them. Ant is a generally laid back person, while Vanessa is hyper-ish. I suspect things will be much faster paced, and fair enough as V only has 2 weeks. Even more strange will be the return to solo travel when I hit Malaysia on Jan 21st. I think it will be a good mix though.

Happy New Year!! This past weekend was relaxation heaven...left the apt only twice, read a book cover to cover and slept a lot. Even managed to catch a good national geographic on the tele last night. Good stuff. Ant, have a safe travel home...you've provided lots of interesting reading. D, I was just thinking of you because there was a Martha Stewart-esc book at a small but excellent cafe we had been pretty much living at for 3 days. :) Ant leaves tomorrow morning and his posts will be missed. :( There is a good chance he may return in April to go to Tibet with me. Posted by: Claudia on January 6, 2004 06:31 AMAnt, I too appreciated your posts...I spent many a morning reading your insightful, wandering, sometimes bizarre thoughts...have a safe trip home Glad to hear you may be returning to traveling with Claud! I think she enjoys the company. Claud, More Bangkok huh? Man, by now I think you seen everything twice! Where in Malaysia are you heading? Steph Posted by: Stephanie on January 6, 2004 04:50 PMSB, Well, I've saved certain things for when V gets here. I didn't go to the Grand Palace again with Ant bc I knew I'd do it with V, ditto with Ayutthaya. I didn't want to get too repetitive. I am heading south in Thailand with V, and our final destination may be Ko Yao Yai, which tranlates to "Long Island" ironically. Then she gets plunked on a bus north, and I head for the Malaysia border. I know of a few places in peninsular Malaysia I want to go, but it's mostly serendipity. Eventually I will make it to the tip and fly out from Singapore to Indo (Bali) and Sumatra. Posted by: Claudia on January 6, 2004 09:21 PMI guess since you lived on the LI of the west it's only fitting to visit the LI of the east...it'll be like ying and yang. Posted by: Dione on January 7, 2004 08:38 AMI read your logs daily and reread old ones very frequently. I love and miss you. Now you will have your sib with whom you can spend time. I hope you put the camera to good use. Photograph both of you and send the results to me. I read your logs daily and reread old ones very frequently. I love and miss you.
