About Me

In 2001, I applied for my first passport. Over the next four years, I traveled through parts of Europe (Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and England) and Africa (Burkina Faso and Togo), and studied in Ghana, West Africa for seven months as an undergraduate. To use the well-worn, but appropriate, cliché, I became a travel addict; I cannot envision a life for myself without my little blue booklet with its colorful stamps and my dreams of future destinations.

After graduating with a degree in anthropology (what better way to become more acquainted with societies around the world?) in 2005, I moved to Washington, DC and began a career in international development. DC was filled with fascinating people who were from, or had traveled to, all corners of the globe, and hearing about all of their crazy overseas adventures left me wishing for more of my own. So, I saved some money, got rid of my apartment and all of my belongings (save one backpack that is becoming increasingly lighter as I continue my journey), and set off on a round-the-world trip that will take me through South Asia, East Africa, and the Middle East…and who knows where else.

My previous travels have positively transformed my ways of thinking and my academic and professional goals. I hope that this journey, with all of its new experiences, will continue to direct me down an exciting life path.

I am curious to see what kind of person I will have become by the end of my trip.

    Hi Sweetheart,
Glad your having a great time. Grandma taught you she could drop kick Rachael over the fence, but I doubt very much she could have stopped Big Yellow. We’re enjoying all your adventures.
    Love

Taea – I am just so in awe of your journeys and i am so glad that I have such a beatiful and talented neice who writes so discriptive that I feel I am sitting right there with you enjoying the scene. I was thinking last night that I have not log on in so long (maybe a 1 and a 1/2) that I did not even know where you were. I am going to set my clock – which will tell me what time it is where you are (oh that technology today). I love you and I keep hoping for safe, exciting journeys for you and mateo – Lots and Lots of Love Aunt T

Hi there, nrnrI don’t really know much about blogging or really any of this overseas travelling advise communication but I thought i’d take a stab here and write you since your entry about “bollywood” was quite entertaining. Anyway, I am feeling that bug of wanting to just go and explore the world. I don’t have much money right now and I wondered if you had a lot of money to start travelling with or if you roughed it and worked at all…? Also, I was curious if you set out to travel for a long period of time or did you just start to travel exploring the world just took over? Anyway, this was just a random rant if you feel like responding. Thank you and enjoy!nrnrKim
