Ushuaia: The end of the world. Start riding north….soon

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Well we have finally arrived in Ushuaia to start the next big aventure… riding our bikes from ‘the end of the world’, Ushuaia at the southern tip of South America to (hopefully) Mendoza, a distance of about 4000kms.

Surprisingly enough it is pretty cold at the end of the world. We leave tomorrow, rain, hail or shine with a good chance of all.

At the top, and after more than 1000m elvation gain in a few hours we ate lunch, totally exhausted (too stuffed to take photos). We were hoping it was all downhill from there, but it was not to be…. after passing through the little tourist town of El Rodeo (only one of about 500 towns called this in Argentina) the road wound its way up to another pass before dropping down into Las Juntas.
