Chaos Works

You wouldn't believe how many people own dogs in Manhattan or how many NYC cops cat call out their patrol cars. It's a wonder how all the women wear 3 inch high heels to walk the city, how cabs can maneuver a traffic jam in Times Square, and how street vendors can ever sell anything when each cart has the exact same handbags, cheap watches and fake kangol hats as the previous vendor...

On Sunday morning we walked past cafes where New Yorkers were devouring Brunch and mimosas, still dressed in what looked like gaudy get-ups much more extravagant than what you might see in Portland for a hip Saturday night celebration. It's amazing how safe you feel in this maddening city. All the culture gels together and the chaos of it all just seems to work so beautifully. Will this be my future residence???

Sounds like fun Kacey...interesting thoughts. Thanks for the note and talk to you soon - e-mail is unbearable slow - easier to say hi here. Have a great trip and talk to you at some point.

ahhh new york...a stroll down bleecker street...bread so crispy i had to hold my ears while they were slicing it... where all the mozzarella is bufalo mozzarella....where the local dialect for calamari is "ga-la-ma' "crispy, and , correctly (!)half tentacles...where the smell and sizzle of sweet sausage, "peppiz n' onyinz" from the street vendors hangs heavy in the air...where the old men are still alive because they knew for 60 years what we found out last week about red wine...and where the old ladies wear black before the old men die...you know, to make the transition easier...it's not italy...but if you need a fix, well, it's still the real deal..still some grit and plenty of texture, and let's not forget about amore'!!!..catch it while you can....
