Florianopolis

Damn, where do I begin. Well lets put it this way, I definately saved the best for last in terms of my travels in Brasil. Thanks Kim Cover for giving me the heads up on this place, it was the absolute best. Arriving with my friend Rita, we planned on staying only 8 days, well her stay turned into 2 weeks and my stay turned into a lil over three weeks. Florianopolis or what most call Floripa, is on the Island of SAnta Caterina. The island inhabits 42 beautiful beaches, great shopping, delicous restaraunts, and a excellent night life.

Rita and I were stayin in Barra Do Lagoa, a really cute beach town with tons of houses to rent for cheap also home to The Backpackers share house. One night in the hostel was enough for us, lots of fun partying but renting a house is the way to go and it is cheaper. We rented a cute little 2 bedroom house, which we labeld Grandmas house or more so the Ginger Bread House. Tammy my friend I have been travleing with since Ilha Grande later joined us and the three of us had a grand time once again re-united, sorry boys but we just have so much fun together. The boys we travel with Matt, Chris, and T-moss left a couple days after. So it was us three again solo, wooohooo!!

Most of our beach days were spent at Mocambique, the longest beach on the island, thus our backyard. There we would swim, surf, explore, and tan our asses for hours. We met so many interesting people on the beach, as well as made some good friends. Most of my time in Floripa was spent with Glen, an Aussie who I fell for. Initially I dislike him and thought he was a rude, abnoxious, cocky bastard hanging with his Finish buddy Patrick always fucked up as all hell. But a few days later sparks flew between us and we lived together for three weeks. Crazy, something I would never do, but it was something out of my control. I can go on an on about us, but I dont want to bore you.

Anyhow, the beaches are spectacular, but we always got sucked into out beach Mocambique or the private little beach next to it, which soon became mine and Glenīs backyard. We often would get on the bus to Pria Mole, I had never seen so many beautiful people in my life, the pictures will describe better than my words. We also went to Ghalleta, ausome surf and not to mention the only beach with the option to go nude. Glen and I also took a boat to the Ilha do Campeche, such a magnificent island, looks like a dream. We snorkeled in the cold water which felt great since the heat of the sun was so extreme. We drank beer, got a little pissed and ate some delicious lula (calamari). Glen and I rented a second house, way better than the first, it was steps to the beach and a 15 minute hike to the natural pools. The natural pool were beautiful and romantic. The rocks are a bit slippery and ruff, so it was some what difficult getting in and getting out with out hurting yourself. I fell ass over head into the water trying to get out, too funny.

At our beach house, Glen and I had the funniest, sweetest and most animated landlady. Her name is shirley and she is not embarressed to show a little skin. Probably pushing 60, she still is in good condition with her high rump and big ole boobs. Her husband was an asian man that we called Mr Miyagi, nice little dude. She was so sweet to us and cooked us a delicous fish dinner twice and did our laundry free of charge. But none of that compares to here personality and how funny she was when trying to communciate with us, all action and movements. Glen and I really enjoyed her.

The night life is ausome here, crawling with beautiful people and delicouse drinks like capifrutas, capetas, capirinas, almost all made with real fruit. My favorite club was El divino, very posh with good music. One thing I noticed about Brasilieras they can sure dance to the music of their own country but once the wheels of steel are on, they dont know how to shake it to hip hop, kinda funny.

I did so much here that I cant put it all down, but in short cooked many feasts for Glen and I, went out to some fantastic dinners, went to a skate/grafitti/hip hop event which was ausome, lots of clubs and bars, the beaches everyday, shopping, sight seeing, the cinema and Mackers with Gleb always, boat tour, parties with the backpackers at the boys party pad, made loads of new friends, etc. Check out the pictures.
