Wandering around Greenwich

Today was a day to wander around Greenwich and take photos. I walked down the main road from Karen's house taking pictures along the way.

Across the street from each other were the National Maritime Museum, which Karen and I wandered through the other day, and the University of Greenwich. I also got shots of the typical British double decker busses and the old red phone booths.

As I was walking I stopped in front of a souvenir shop and noticed that one of the plates on display in the window had me and the top of a tower in its reflection. I thought that looked pretty neat, so I tried to get a picture of it without getting the camera in the shot, but the angle wasn't right. I still think it turned out pretty neat...here it is. People walking by gave me some wierd looks, but hey, thats becoming normal for me. At least I wasn't wearing shorts today.

After my photo tour of Greenwich, Karen and I went for a hike to try to break in her boots, and then went back to her place. She worked for a few hours and I .... fell asleep.

Tomorrow, Karen, her two kids and I are going to a play downtown and then I'll be up early saturday morning to catch my flight to Nairobi. Doing these blog entries has been easy on Karens home computer, but when I'm at the mercy of an internet cafe, it probably won't be so easy - especially to upload pictures. So, I may not be able to write again until after the Kili Climb, which starts in Moshi, Tanzania on Tuesday. The climb is 8 days long and we and are supossed to begin our last hike up to the summit just before midnight on June 20th... which means that I'll be hiking toward the summit in the early morning on the 21st, my B-DAY!! Send me oxygen rich thoughts, k?

The plate picture turned out well. Yeah, the Brits don't wear shorts much in London. (btw- "pants" means men's underwear!) Are you going on safari in Ambroseli or Masai Mara on the way to Kilimanjaro? If so, a guide is essential, as they are really good at spotting the animals. That's cool you get to be at the peak for your birthday and the solistice!

That plate picture is really cool. Your digital camera takes really good pictures! Did you plan to spend your birthday at the summit of Mt. Kili? Couldn't have planned that better. You really aren't missing anything here- same ole, same ole. Have a safe trip to Nairobi, a safe and beautiful climb and a wonderful birthday!!!!

MANALI: I hear having someone read to you while you are sleeping is a good way to learn.

Ok, I've arrived in Nairobi, my flight got upgraded to "world traveler plus" which means I had a foot rest and my own tv with games/movies etc etc.... awww yeah. I think I lost at Othello, or "reversi" as it was called a few hundred times. I did win twice though.

Leaving tomorrow for a flight down to Kilimanjaro. This computer I'm on doesn't have a USB port to download pics so this is my entry for today, but it doesn't matter anyway, all I did today was fly here.

Later!
