Life at the Inn

Hello Everyone!

As advertised we have been off the map for a bit. We are still at the Black Sheep Inn right now, and will likely stay here through Thanksgiving. It is really too bad that the internet connection here is so slow because we have some amazing pictures that we would love to share with all of you! I guess you’ll just have to wait on those . . .

The location of the Inn is at a relatively high altitude, but since we are right near the equator the weather is described as “eternal spring.” We’ll it certainly feels like spring lately, with all sorts of babies popping out all over the place. The cat here had four little kittens a few weeks ago, little chickens running underfoot just about everywhere, and just a few days ago one of the sheep (a black sheep of course!) had a baby lamb. One of our duties has been to look after her and help nurse her (at first her momma was not so keen on letting her feed).

In addition to that we have been busy helping out with the Llamas (no spitting so far!), doing lots of hiking, horseback riding, helping with chores around the inn and meeting people from all over the world. We are also learning a lot about permaculture, composting toilets, water systems (including rainwater collection) and about the local plants, animals and general way of life.

How about those Red Sox?

We also wanted to give you all some idea of what we have been planning. When we leave Chucchilan we will have just about a month left to travel in other parts of South America. We are planning on traveling south overland to Peru, mostly just to visit some highlights there such as Machu Pichu (Which we have heard more than lives up to its immense hype despite the well traveled tourist trail there). So if anyone wants to send us a card or some small something (small is key). You can catch up to us in about 5 weeks at:

Jim / Lisa
C/O South American Explorers
Apartado 500
Cusco, Peru

NOTE: If you do want to send something you might want to do it soon since mail can take a few weeks. They can always hold our mail , but we will not be in Cusco for very long.

Ok. now Bush is president. I'm sure it's on the news over there too.. or down there that is, since you're south. Yet up there, since you're at higher elevation. Now I've gone and confused myself. doh! huzzah!!!
