For the next India trip

Because there MUST be another. We'll be back, badder than Arnie. Here's a short list of places we want to see again, or for the first time, on India II:

  • Khajuraho. More time to re-examine the temples, and to see if we can find that elephant. It's also just worth more time.
  • Ajanta. The caves.
  • Kanyakumari. At the southern tip of India, it's the meeting of the 3 waters: Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, Indian Oceanaa
  • Varanasi. At least I do; I'd love more time here to take more of the place in.
  • Amma's ashram. When she's there so we can get our hugs
  • Auroville. To see if HAL now lives inside the Epcot-insprised Matrimandir
  • Hampi. Because Nick & Dusty rave about it
  • Madikeri. Awesome trekking just outside of Bangalore
  • Sikkim. 3 reasons: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
  • Dharamsala. The Dalai Lama's home in exile.
  • Udaipur. One of Claudia's favorite places, I've got to see it for myself after hearing her rave about it.
  • Rajastan. Same as above, and I want an overnight-stay camel trek in the desert too!
  • Konark & Pure. Along with Bhubaneswar, these form a bit of a "temple triangle" in Orissa. Konark's Sun Temple is completely unique in Indian temple architecture, and Pure is supposed to just be a nice beachside chillout town.
  • Dudhsegar Falls. Near the eastern border in Goa, they're supposed to be pretty spiffy.
  • Cochin. I dug Ft. Cochin area, and would like to see what else the place has.
  • Chennai. As great as our couple of days were, this city merits more time.
  • Hyderabad. We got a lot of recommendations, including from a guy on one of our train rides, who is from Andra Pradesh.
  • Gokarna. A Canadian chap on the Alleppey-Kollam backwater cruise recommended this, as being quite possibly more chill and with better surf than Goa. Nuff said.
  • Arambol. More, more, more — too cool, too chill, not to see again.
  • Panjim & Old Goa. Good grub, and there's loads more Portugeuse religious architecture in OG.
  • Anjuna & Vagator, Goa. Bit wilder, more of the rave scene, but it'd be interesting to see them — quickly — nonetheless.

    Where else should we go?

I know that this was mentioned somewhere else in your blog but it was taking a bit to find...about the Intrepid Tours. Did you book yours before you left New York? Is it possible to book them on the road?

    Thanks for your input!

    Dewbs,

YOu can book em from the road. You'll just have to either fax or call them with your credit card details. Not a prob. I think you can also send them through email but the internet cafes can be a bit suspect....
