Low Tolerance for BULLSHIT

I'm going to beat the shit out of someone.

I am still not 100% mended. However, I can't lie around all day in a hotel room so Ant and I went out to Barista, as a treat for me. Barista is a Starbucks style coffee joint that serves frappes with ice cream and has blissful airconditioning. I sucked on down my frappe (it just didn't taste as good as in Jaipur or Delhi) and ate my boring tomato and cheese sammie. Eating and drinking are just so completely unappealing to me right now. The less taste something has right now, the better. Even drinking water is a chore.

So when a small beggar child hassled me this morning, she made the mistake of touching me. I'm not big on people touching me, so I promptly slapped her in the head. Cruel, maybe, but I'm sick and tired right now.

Soon we head to Bhubeneswar, which I am hoping will breathe some more life into me and get rid of some of my nastiness and irritability. Though, it is a city of temples, and I've also had it with the sadhus (religious holy men who beg for alms and are mourned as dead by their families) so I might be just as bad there. I'm hoping not though. If nothing else, I hope the air is a little cleaner so my respiratory system can relax a bit. Things have been coming out of my mouth and nose that are just WRONG.

Sorry the post isn't as colorful as Ant's but he's been out exploring what is new and exciting to him (as he should be) and I've been watching a fuzzy version of Globe Trekker on The Discovery Channel. If anyone's seen the Tunisia episode with Ian Wright, he visits the old sets of the first Star Wars movie and runs around in a cape with a plastic light saber.... great stuff. Also saw a show on the NYC subway system and the new super rail station being built which is supposed to cut the commute time from Long Island by 40 minutes!

Oh, and when I was in Barista this morning, I saw that the featured movie on Star Movies tonight is none other than my favorite, ET. I'm telling you, that little bastard is out to get me. :)

Right now, I am having a low period, which is to be expected at times. Can ya tell?? I do miss things from home in a big way, especially my bed, the shower, and the air you can't see. I'm just a lot more homesick than I could have ever imagined. I told Ant I just want to sit around somewhere easy for a while (such as Goa) and read books and sip lassis or chai.

This post is all over the place. My mind is a little fuzzy right now. :) Sorry.

As we move south in India, things will improve.

Hi PC

I have been reading yours (and Ant's!) blog with interest as India is not on my list (this time) and you've had a great time up until now it seems. Its horrible being away from home when your ill (esp. India with the dirt/heat) so I hope you recover soon - go to Goa and chill out for a week or two I reckon!

I must admit I watch GlobeTrekker on rainy Sunday afternoons in London! Some of them are great (and I like Ian Wright - coming from my neck of the woods!)

Hope all goes well - will keep reading - we're going RTW starting in Bangkok next Fri (same day as I finish work - straight to Heathrow after leaving drinks!). Keep your chin up luv!

Hi Claudia,
I have been reading your postings daily. I am so jealous of your trip. It does suck being sick away from home. I hope you feel better soon. I am learning all about the world by reading you page. Keep it up.

I can't believe you are still feeling under the weather. You should force yourself to eat...cause you need to keep up your strength.. and drink plenty of fluids. (those sugarcane drinks sound good.) But I think you need water.....not frozen coffee drinks!

There is nothing to miss at home....you will realize that when you return and are hating normal life! So enjoy your freedom...and be sure to take lots of pictures- as Cheryl said, we are learning about the whole by reading your page. (and I am learning that India may not be a future travel destination of mine!)

Sounds like you and Ant are traveling well together- I know how you are always wary of traveling with friends. His posts are very different from yours...I can't wait to hear both of you post about the same experiences...two viewpoints are better than one!

I'll be sure to send you some pics of Dione/Greg's wedding....

Hey
Just come home soon and relax. Listen, we can also cancell the Mysore bookings, though there will be no refund on the ticket. I will not proceed to book for Hampi, we can let that be a go by. You can just be at home, eating home cooked food, reading and yes watching TV will do you some good. There are places to explore in and around Bangalore as well. Mysore is nearby but Hampi is far out, so maybe we should drop it.Get well soon. If you are fine, we shall proceed to Mysore on October 23, else not. Take care girl! The first thing for you on Oct 22, will be a visit to my doctor.

My best to Dusty for a first rate decision to take you to his doctor. Maybe you are suffering from the same affliction as your freshman year when we went to the Lurae Caverns in Virginia. After all, you did well there. You are a real trooper. My love to you both. Yes, I miss you! Call again soon. Our last conversation was too short.

Mom, Dusty is a CHICK. :)

I am feeling better today, much less coughing and I think I was just suffering from dehydration and maybe some salt deprivation. I've been much better. Ant can swear to it as well. No need for a doctor I think and I am almost 100% convinced my cough was just a reaction to the amount of diesel fumes. Will post more in a sec....

Yup, I bear witness to the above. She's doing much better today. Her feistiness is almost back to normal too - a very good sign ;-) I've been trying to keep her fed and hydrated, and yeah, I'm thinking that once we hit some cleaner air she should do even better. Dusty - you've been reading my mind though. Rock on.
