All of East Africa is not a safari!

Although from our last post, it might look like all we saw were animals, but this was not the case!

As we have mentioned, we taught for a bit and delivered milk. We were also lucky enough to volunteer with the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP). KPAP is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of the porters who haul gear for tourists up the mountain. Porter work is really, really difficult and often dangerous. The KPAP staff, Zamo and Karen do a wonderful job of providing opportunities to educate both the porters and tourists in order to make the lives of the porters easier and safer.

Here are some of the people we met!

Some of the kids kids in Chekereni, near the Kisanga farm

When we left in the morning to go to the school, the sun was rising on Mt. Kilimanjaro

This is Robin with Kenedy getting a tour of one of the pastors projects: a dairy cooperative. The project has even recieved funding from Land O Lakes!

Here is Matt, Anna and Haika on the farm

We were able to visit a local Masai tribe. Tribes are often visited by tourists, to raise money, etc. We were lucky to visit one that did not get too many visitors.

Here is some of the tribe checking out Zamo´s VW bug--Almost as much attention was paid to us!

Here we are with Anna and Kenedy Kisanga

Lastly, a BIG thanks to Donovan at Bootsnall.com for hooking us up with some wonderful people!

Gosh, it's hard to be sitting at a computer here in the United States, and seeing all my friends and family back in Tanzania. Wish I could be there!
