March 01, 2005Goan Crazy! Sting in Bangalore!
The Taj was great but Agra was a dump and we couldn't wait to get the heck outta there. Plus, it was freezing cold! I never thought I'd need to wear long johns in India of all places. We were hoping that showing up in India in winter would be an escape from constant sweating and I guess we got what we were aiming for! We decided to head south for the heat of Mumbai on an overnight 24 hour train ride. While we shivered, I mean waited for our late train we met some other travellers just starting their own round-the-worlder. It turns out that they were heading down to Mumbai as well sitting a few cars away. We all settled in for the stares and were off. Somehow Rich and Chloe got 7 people crammed into their 4 person car and the staring was worse. They didn't enjoy their introduction to Indian train travel anymore than we did. We got to Mumbai and decided that it might be more enjoyable to brave the touts and rickshaw drivers together. Mumbai was a big improvement over Delhi. The city seemed to have much more history behind its big, European styled buildings and less hectic way of life. The streets were still full of fuming taxis and autorickshaws but Posted by Josh on March 1, 2005 04:43 PM

cool! you went to mumbai. yeah, agra is not that special. i am surprised it was that cold. when i went to new delhi in dec. 1998 it would get pretty cold at night and during the day it was cool. you needed a light sweater and you were set. glad to see you are loving india. i miss my family in india.
