This blog thing is tricky! Just wrote a big (first) piece on my plans and managed to lose it! Well anyway, I am off to Bangkok on 25 November which is getting closer and closer and now I am getting seriously excited. I’m only gonna be there for 3 weeks, as from a financial point of view I cant quite afford to go RTW just yet, but have been itching to get some backpacking done for some time now. My vague plan so far consists of heading north after a couple of days in Bangkok. I want to go to Chaing Mai, Mae Hong Son, Pai, Mae Sot/Myawadi. Then I’m not too sure whether to head along the Lao border (as I really want to see the Mekong river), or go down to Krabi and then Railay, Ko Lanta and Phi Phi. I have been to Thailand before, but never made it up north as was too busy jetting (in longtails) between Samui and Ko Phangan. As the weather gets worse here (cold, dark, rain), its comforting to know that soon I will be in a tropical climate, away from the stress of my job, and getting PROPER fish sauce with every meal!
