venice2.jpgI just took a walk down Venice Boardwalk, my new neighborhood.  This is place is the definition of true inspiration to any creative thinkers…It truly is a human zoo of hippies, musicians, street sellers, dog walkers, tattoo artists, fortune tellers…I could go on! I’m here on vacation, staying at the Venice Admiral Suites www.veniceadmiralsuites.com.These are really a great find, just on the border on Santa Monica and Venice Beach, right at the north end where the weird and wonderful boardwalk begins. I guess I kind of feel like I’ve found the place to be. My apartment is on the second floor, I don’t have an ocean view but I can smell it everywhere and hear it at night. There is something really comforting and special about being able to wander down the boardwalk, absorb the whole crazy, cool vibe of the place but then just go home and relax and chill out with a movie. I like this contrast of being in the thick of things but being able to close the door on it all too. I really recommend this place. The bed is super comfy. The kitchen is all furnished and stocked and it reminds me of home. Actually it reminds me of the time I stayed in my uncles beach house…that’s how special this place is. Today I didn’t do too much, it’s been overcast, but that makes it all the more interesting here. I can only guess when the sun is fully out here, so is everyone! On a day like today you really get the feel of the soul of Venice. Locals are up early, dog walking, jogging, cycling (everyone here is so active!) and surfers wandering down to the water’s edge (in wetsuits in June!). I’m trying to find the right words to describe the whole feeling of today, I guess it’s like seeing the true colors of a place on a rainy day, and in that there is so much beauty and charm. This is such a special place and so much more than what you think of when you think of LA and SOCAL and the beach. This is like a unique European-Caribbean-Latin-American community all rolled into one….
