Well I made it to Singapore yesterday morning after an all-night busride from Kuala Lumpur. I had been warned about the anal retentiveness of Sing. and was prepared when I got here. Chewing gum is outlawed and spitting, littering, and eating/drinking in the subway brings a stiff penalty. That's not so bad considering the government kills drug dealers and still publically canes criminals. I think that's pretty brutal considering what a westernized country it is; the place is spotless and well developed. So as a result I made it my personal goal to violate as many silly laws as possible just for the hell of it. Don't worry, I didn't attemtp anything invovling drugs or for that matter anything that would get me sentenced to death or caned; just fined It was just the elementary littering and spitting I toyed with really. I guess I'm not much of a rebel anymore.
So now I'm in the airport waiting for my flight to Bangkok. I love hanging out in airports. Despite the inflated prices of almost everything except tobacco and booze, I enjoy the excitement I get from people coming and going to and from all corners of the globe. And for some reason attractive females abound here and oogling over them isn't bad either.
Yeah well anyway, I should be home in 5 days. It's pretty exciting. I'm curious how long it will take for me to be ready to leave again. We'll see. So you all take it easy and Billy, I can't be bothered by your criticisms ya wank.

Nothing new to say. Just checking the trivia question.
Still in Kuala Lumpur. Still cynical and lazy. I'm losing my travel buddy tomorrow for personal reasons that do not refelct well on me :)
I will sleep just fine. Hope all is well...

Malaysia ia a beautiful country. I've spent time on the beach, in the jungle and now in the very western Kuala Lumpur. I've been here about 4 days and was immediately seduced by the amenities of this cosmo city. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I've spent most of my time at the Petronas Towers mall sipping good coffee and dining on bagels and cream cheese. I have been desperate for the comforts of home and have found them here in KL. It was a big change from Tamara Negara national park.
I spent two days in the jungle. I didn't plan on doing any jungle adventures on this trip but got talked into doing a half day trek (unguided fo course.) It wasn't hard but the climate made it challengiing. The air was hot and balmy. Sweat was pouring off us in this hot moist and sticky environment. The jungle was amazing but the insect population was less impressive. Everywhere we went we were dive bombed by countless varieties of flies, bees and other bloodsucking parasites. We had heard about the abundant leeches but we thought we were clear since we avoided water crossings. At the end of the hike we made it to a swimming hole where I was elated to dive in and recuperate. when I was taking off my shoes I noticed a round black object on my sock but thought nothing of it and went for a swim. When I got out my foot was bleeding and I couldn't get it to stop. After further investigation we found out the small black thing was a leech gorging itself on my blood. I can't imaging I tasted good but it was evident he was at it for quite a while. No harm done though.
Being in a city now is nice. I've been riding the train and window shopping in a five star mall. I had forgotten how nice air conditioning is. I saw a western movie (MR. and Mrs. Smith) and have been munching western cuisine. I have developed a love for McDonald's ice cream cones. With two weeks left I could care less about adventure and cultural exploration. As far as I'm concerned my trip is over and I'm just trying to get my head straight for the return. I am having a hell of a time deciding where to go from here. I have a flight booked from Singapore to Bangkok on the 25th so need to figure something out for the next 10 days. Maybe an island, maybe stay here. I really don't know or care. I'm enjoying myself just doing nothing. I guess you could say I'm worn out from 5 months of traveling; cynicism has definitely set in
Anyway, be cool all of you. I'm looking forward to the 4th. I'm also very pleased dad almost has all of the hay in. Let me know how the weather is and what I have to look forward to or not look forward to. It's not too late for me to extend my ticket home another 6 months.
And if I cant't get to a computer by the 19th, happy father's day pop. Should I be wishing you happy father's day yet Chavez? Who else is to be a daddy? Poor bastards! Yeah so take it easy and we'll see each other real soon ya hear?
trivia question: 1. What book was the movie Outlaw Josie Wales adapted from?
2. What are the names of the two inbred guys who hold Josey Wales and the kid at gunpoint for the reward money offered by the union army at the beginning of the movie. hint: the names start with A and L. Good luck!
