September 17, 2006Free London!
Being such an expensive city gives London a bad reputation as a place to visit. Luckily there is plenty to do for free if you can afford the travel card. As most know, 98% of the museums in London are free - the V&A, the Natural History, the Imperial War Museum the Tate Modern, the Museum of London, and of course, the amazing National Gallery and the British Museum. more from dodge... Another milestone has been attended to and another has passed. The latter is put on a bit of a hold as we suffer with real life. What am I going on about? Well, Dan and I spent a lovely day last Friday, the 8th of September, in Croydon at the Home Office getting my Indefinite Leave to Remain sorted out. It was awfully exciting to get my visa sorted out. I'm official. I'm indefinite! more from dodge... "Well then, there we are"September 13, 2006Writing about bricks
I've been blocked for a few years. Writer's. Or at least that's my excuse. Sure, I've been scribbling here every other day or so but it isn't the novel I hope to create. Or the epic travel book. Or even the short story with a sense of jaded humour that's excepted by the compilation books I submit them to. I thought maybe, just maybe, coming to London would help jar something out of this stagnant head of mine. Perhaps the new city would provid well needed fuel. September 11, 2006How?
Five years gone. How can one human being do this to another? How can one who lives in this world commit these acts against one other? Have they no heart? Have they no soul? Can they even exist at all? How? September 06, 2006Back to school
It's definitely over, summer, although the weather right now is spot on beautiful. Back home this week would have been "Back to School", the week where the malls are plastered with sales and Labor Day, the official end of summer vacation, tells everyone to get back to work! Which I've done, even though I didn't get a summer vacation. This week has been busy. At work and play. I've friends in town which always brings out a new meaning of busy, playing host both to my home and adopted city. It's a welcome change to the everyday routine. However the work part is just steamin' along. Lots to do, lots to do. And not enough hours in the day. I sometimes miss those school days. more from dodge... "Back to school" |
