Day One, July 7th

Getting ready to leave!

We left Dundee around 10:45AM this morning.  Louie packed the car with the ease of a seasoned traveller.  He’s also in charge of the GPS programming.  Lynnae sat in the back seat and took care of refreshments and music selection.

Look what I did!<a

Lunch was Subway in Sisters.  We sat outside to enjoy the sun and take in the fresh air.

Lunch in the sun.

Then on to Klamath Falls via Hwy 97 from Bend.  We had to bypass Crater Lake due to our late start (guess we’ll save that for another trip).  Arrived in Klamath Falls around 6PM.  We’ve checked into the Red Lion Inn.  Free wireless internet and a tile shower.  Those are the perks.   The beds are perfect, too.

Dinner at Sizzler.  Lynnae enjoyed her shrimp skewers, Louie the mega-bacon cheeseburger.  Myself, all you can eat salad bar.  It was a nice light end for the day.  After dinner, we took a dip in the hotel’s pool and are now getting ready to turn into bed for the evening.

Total miles: 312 miles, total travel time 7.5 hours.  Sunny conditions and great roads all the way.

It sounds like you guys are off to a great start, what a great way to spend the summer – it reminds me of the storys grandma & grandpa used to tell about traveling across the US. I hope you guys make some great memories, the blog is a fabulous idea!
