September 23, 2004End of the Routine
3 My last full day of domestic uselessness began with an increasingly familiar sort of leisure activity: Of course, while I cannot blame the flawless acting, I had no real idea as to what was happening and had to make some educated guesses. Apparently, somebody bad is plotting something bad with somebody else bad and in a state of semi-undress. This person is eating something that resembles a bagel. Or maybe a cookie? I couldn't tell and I just hope that the answer isn't essential to following the plotline View image . I also got to watch a slice of a talk show called "Casos de Familia." The day's theme? Mi Madre es una estupida View image. Again, I didn't understand most of this, but I think all of the shouting and screaming nicely transcended the language barrier. No chairs were thrown Geraldo-style, however. I quickly grew bored. My morning leisure activity completed, I participated in a wee bit of sport by walking the family beast around the neighborhood. The beast was not pleased with my slovenly pace View image, as I paused continuously to snap pointless (nostalgic) photos of the houses on our street: House: View image House: View image House: View image House: View image How bored I look after taking lots of boring pictures of houses: View image Normally this sort of gruelling work-out would be followed with a nap, but I didn't have the time. This post will be the last from the U.S. and it follows roughly 14 consecutive hours spent packing and making Verizon extremely profitable this quarter (goodbye everybody and sorry to those I couldn't reach by phone). Ever the procrastinator, I am still not completely packed and continue to lighten my load by pulling out all sorts of random things I had intended to bring. This exercise continued until about 3 am, although I was not entirely alone in my efforts View image. So... this is a short post and I really need some sleep so I can finish things up in the morning and head to Newark so as to catch my flight at 8 am on Saturday. Next post will be from Honduras! IMS&L out. Comments
Hi people. Stuck in Miami as the hurricane comes in. Good times! More later. Posted by: Josh on September 25, 2004 05:05 PMJust a quick update until I can spend the time to upload pictures and write out the events --- made it to Teguc on Sunday and took a quick tour of the city with family friends. Staid over and took the morning bus to the village of ruinas de copan. As of Tuesday, touring ruins and will take the early Wed bus to La Ceiba on the coast to catch a flight to the Bay Islands where I will get my scuba certification. Will update from there.
