*Whew* I didn’t notice the humidity difference when I left singapore but I definately noticed it when I got back into town. The humidity is way higher here.
Also, squat toilets. in one word: EW. Actually, the squatties in Kl are nicer than in Taiwan or China cuz they have a garden hose with spray nozzle at every toilet so that you can wash down the area after you’ve used it. This is a brilliant idea because the toilets then don’t smell so rank. In Taiwan and China they don’t hoses and I have to try and hold my breath every time I need to use the bathroom. Also, you need to bring your own toilet paper…oops. I forgot about this the first time but thankfully I was only going number 1 and so I had to kinda shake myself clean.
I find that KL is not as interesting as Singapore so now I realized although I don’t do beaches I should probably have gone there since it would have been more beautiful and natural rather than just another city. Well, experience is what you make of it right? I managed to find a nature reserve not far outside of KL (16km) so I booked a Canopy walk for 2 knowing that Kiyo loves nature. (lives in Japan, no nature!)
The Canopy walk was about 10 minutes commuter train out into the suburbs and then a 4.30RM “teksi” ride there. There is about a 50 minute hike up the side of a mountain (over 300 stairs). The funny thing was that I was the one panting up the stairs while Kiyo was watching me from the top, cigarette in hand.
The canpoy walk was great! The walks looks like ladders lashed together with planks of wood on top so that people can walk on it. It is at least 50 m above the forest floor. I scared Kiyo with the bouncy way I walked so that it shook the walkway a little. hahah. I’m evil.
The 40 minutes it took to walk back, someone ahead of us accidentally stepped on a snake, didn’t kill it but I think it was hurt…
We stumbled upon a movie set. apparently, many bollywood movies that require forest backdrop use this reserve.
Finally, saw gecko, and lizard.
Teksi ride back with a Chinese driver cost us 8.10RM… I told him at the 5.00 mark that it only cost us 4.00 to get there and he said that we couldn’t take the same route back. Whatever… but I did manage to practice some chinese with him. He says it is different than Hokkien but maybe it’s cuz I’m a crappy speaker….. who knows.
The moment we got back into town, we started looking for a bar. Kiyo needs his “gas”, draft beer. But the skies opened up and started pouring rain so we ate dinner at the closest restaurant… McDonald’s! I had the Bughur Ayam. The only thing not on a Canadian menu that I could find. it was chicken congee… Kiyo’s had a Staple in it!!! he almost ate it! we won’t sue though…
