Sunday was raceday just outside Smith, AB. Adam and I drove up 2.5hrs that morning from Edmonton and on the way there saw a fox on the side of the road.
He looks scrawny but he’s got take away in his mouth. You can see it in this picture:
remember to click on pics for larger view. I think it’s a black/dark coloured bird.
At the race I met a lovely couple from N. England that are now living in Pincher Creek and trying to get residency. I’ve noticed a lot of foreign people like Aussies and English at these events. Anyways, Paul placed 1st in intermediate class while Adam placed 7th in Junior class. Paula and I watched from the pits and spoke about how races are different in the UK vs. here as well as talking about babies and motherhood (she has her first little one, Ashley, 6wks old). Firstly, they are way more organized! Like there’s an actual plan!! Secondly, you are competing against yourself and against the clock. You don’t usually see others and pass others on the trail since you have timed starts. Sounds way better than these races here. So disorganized and very poorly marked trails. Well, not only trails but poorly marked directions to the race site along the road.
