On Friday night, the night before Justin and Therea’s wedding (as well as Glen and Sara’s) I went to Sara’s house in the Grove for some pre-show activities. A bunch of relatives and friends from both sides of the family were there and we went to the community outdoor rink to play some street hockey! As I am out of shape for not exercising for a year, I tended to get out of breath quite quickly. Also, since it was a bbq, I didn’t eat dinner beforehand… I switched with the goalie, Charlene, and played goal the rest of the night. A dark, ominous cloud came over the rink and play had to stop once the downpour and pea sized hail started. There wasn’t much of a warning like a light bit of rain. It was just a bucket.
Tanner, the other goalie, started charging down the cleared rink towards the empty net with the ball; missed twice with his stick because the water made the ball sticky. That gave me enough time to run out in my hockey pads and pounce on him. Got the ball away from him before he tipped it into the net and I threw it down to centre rink! BWAH hah hah ha! foiled again Tanner!
I have to say, Sara’s mom throws the best parties!
