The weekend was 35C on Sat and 42C on Sun!!! Melting! Way too hot out there for tennis but we went early to try and get into the indoor Vodafone Arena. We managed to get in even though we were only an hour early and got some of the last seats in the arena 3 rows from the top.
We brought our own water and chips to snack on but I saw people with Eskys (coolers) full of food. There were lots of outdoor couts but most of the matches were cancelled because of the heat. Games get cancelled if the temperature reaches 38C. Lots of other booths and live entertainment to look at too if you were brave enough to wander around outside.
Pictures to come later.
Watching tennis is WAY more interesting and easier to pick up than cricket! The matches were really good up close and live but when the play stopped for one of the games, Coria v. Grosjean, I would have liked commentary to let us know what was wrong… one end of the court had a display to tell you how fast the serve was, and another clock at the other end to tell you how long the match was going for. I found the linesmen quite funny because they would move in a synchronised fashion! The poor ball boys didn’t get much of a break either cuz they had to hold up umbrellas to further cover the players during the break between matches.
