Córdoba - week´s highlights
Man…what a week. I´ve been having a great time in this city and around. I´ve gotta run so I wanted to jot down some of my exploits real quick to make sure I don´t forget about them. I´ll try to expand on them in a few days or whenever I have more time. Anyway, some of the week´s highlights include:
- Visiting to the Che Guevara musuem at his former house in a town 1 hour away (it was pretty funny asking ¨uhhh..donde esta la casa de Che Guevara?¨when´s the last time you asked how to get to the house of one of the most controversial/influential figures of the 20th century). The house was pretty lame though - highlights included the ¨bathroom where Che once wiped his ass!¨ I mean it didn´t really have anything about him or what he did, it was basically just a showcase of the spoon he used to eat oatmeal with, etc…
- Eating dinner at McDonald´s on Kol Nidre (the night before Yom Kippur) right after one of the girls I was with got her nose pierced - but I don´t feel too bad about it because I was with Israelis and they made me go…also, I didn´t get a cheeseburger
- Going to good ´ol trusty Chabad House for services both nights and hearing the Shofar, and then fasting all day yesterday as my Israeli hostelmates sat and ate 3 meals in front of me
- Going to an ¨all you can eat¨ buffet last night to break the fast and end up going 5 rounds…which was nice until I got home and thought I would explode, from one end or the other…and wound up sleeping for the next 12 hours
- Hanging out with a Swiss guy who ¨fell in love¨ in Brasil (and by love I mean he had an affair with the wife of a prosecutor in Rio de Janeiro) and now sits on the computer 20 hours a day, everyday talking to her or formulating a gameplan to get her back
- Desperately trying to communicate in a room with people from Spain, Japan, Israel, Switzerland, and Argentina
- Watching Argentina beat Peru 2-0 than lose 1-0 to Uruguay three days later
- Randomly meeting a girl from Fairfax (suburb of DC) who talked shit about Bmore then putting her in place. Bmore for liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife son! And you know this!
- Watching a building downtown go up in flames and pour out more smoke than Gary, Indiana on a weekday from the balcony in my hostel - while watching the same thing live on TV (it´s ok I don´t think anyone got hurt)
- Watching Wayne´s World (1) and realizing it´s one of best movies of all time - (scooby doo ending) - ¨And I would´ve gotten away with it too if it wasn´t for you snooping kids!¨
- Starting Angels and Demons and then realizing that every single Dan Brown book is like a mad lib:
________ (young, highly educated bachelor, but attractive of course ) is dragged against his will into some ridiculous _______ (conspiracy by ancient group)……only to be ¨randomly¨ paired with another ____________ (overly intelligent -but of course beautiful - girl with serious family issues)…only to find that their _____________ (cranky, know-it-all boss, who is physically disabled in some way) is really behind the whole crazy scheme to ____________ (kill alot of people, destroy a religion, etc…)
C´mon Dan - what do you take me for?
Anyway, those are some of the weeks highlights. Today and tommorow should be a blast, assuming I can get my WAILERS tickets. It´s great they just played in BA and now they´re on a tour of Argentina…in all of their commercials it looks like they play all of Bob´s old songs. The concert is tommorow night, and then I´m heading to Bariloche - which is right by the Andes and is the base for all of the adventure sports in the country…basically the Interlaken of Argentina.
Hasta Luego,
Adam

Yo, Sounds like tons of fun times down there…Soulive was awesome, we were at the front of the stage, direct center, pretty sick. I would have pictures but not only did the House of Blues confiscate my camera, they then charged me $5 to check it. And when I questioned the guy about charging me he told me perhaps I was used to Backstreet Boys’ concerts where cameras are allowed…jackass
Anyway, im glad you enjoyed the typical night before “the Yom” dinner at McDonalds. If Sef’s good luck charm doesnt work this week against the Stains, there is no hope for Bmore sports for some time. My money is with Angelos being an absolute moron and overpaying for an aging DH(what a new scenario for them) in this case, Jim Thome.
BTW your madlib was directly on target, perhaps you could write a similar story now and make millions But you forgot to include that it has to be read at a middle school reading level….anyway im out for now

I’m reading this week’s entry as I sit over a plate of brisket from a Jewish deli out here so I’m digging the whole Yom theme. Its so crazy how many jews are out in L.A! They say at any given moment there are roughly 3.5 million people on the roads in greater Los Angeles. Well on Rosh and Yom I think that number is reduced in half! Seriously though, both mornings my drive to work (yes the good employee that I am for working on both those holidays) was as quick as Stu making sweet love to his sheets.
Speaking of Stu…you should know that those Dan Brown books don’t have much depth to them. Any author that can hold Stu’s attention for long enough to complete not 1, but 2 of his books you know has to play to the action/adventure crowd. Check out freakenomics…damn interesting read.
Scott…Everyone knows that it should be called the house of RULES! Every security guard is on a power trip after getting rejected repeatedly from the CPD. It is a nice venue though. Soulive has played out here twice and, while I did make the 1st show at a small bar in Santa Monica, I did not pay the $20 just to park on the strip and see them at the house of blues out here. My mistake though because Stevie Wonder was in attendance and sang with them for 2 songs on the encore!
in summation…
Why didn’t you get a nose ring Adam?? No cojones?

Haha…good job with the comments kids…you all crack me up. How many hours did you spend trying to come up with something witty? Well…it worked. Ian, you of all people NEED to check out the above link. Say it ain´t so Kwame, so it ain´t so.
Scott - in referring to last week´s Ravens game, my cousin e-mailed me that ¨the football we played was worse than the tough annual JV battle between Franklin and Pikesville.¨Touché!

Hey Ad,
Sounds like Cordoba is great. We missed you at Beth El a few days ago. Are you planning on coming home around Christmas for a break? Let me know what you decide to do. Michigan beat Penn State yesterday with one second to go. I was kind of scared to walk around Philly with a Michigan shirt because people here are die hard PSU fans. Oh well! Things in Philly are great…I’m thinking about taking the LSATS in December and going to law school next fall. We could be in school together. Have fun in Argentina…keep me posted!

Yeh I read about the Michigan game on ESPN.com…good thing Lloyd argued and got those extra seconds. Glad to hear Philly is treating you well - what kind of work are you doing there?
I think I may have answer to your earlier question on Lacoste. Alot of people on the street sell it, and it has official looking tags on it, but these shirts are made in Argentina. Maybe Lacoste licenses the name so they can produce cheaper versions in Argentina…real shirts or not, I just bought one today for 15 pesos (about 5 bucks), so its all good.
So youre trying to do the law school thing are you…porque? Its highly unlikely that youll see me sitting in class in the fall - aside from the fact that I was in total agony during the course of my english teaching course (and that was only a month), I just changed my plane ticket to August 1. Which means, eventually - and sooner rather than later if I actually want to make it to August 1- Im gonna have to end this vacation and get me a jobby job!
