Back to Cordoba
Well it’s been a week since I’ve been back in BA…my has time traveled fast. I’ve been staying with my friends Jordan and Sam - who have a really great apartment in one of the best parts of the city, no less - so the “vacation” from vacation has proved no less relaxing than welcome week in Ann Arbor. This place is like a black hole - first I was gonna crash for a night, then I was just gonna hang out for the weekend…next thing I know it’s been almost a full week and and I’ve setup camp next to the turqoise-blue beanbag I’ve been sleeping on. They’re working, but their schedule allows them to conduct “business” at 2 in the afternoon, leaving plenty of time for the more important activities - chilling, eating, watching TV, and other such strenous exertions…it’s a tough life.
I caught MNF football last night, and have to say it was a bit funny listening to the color commentay in Spanish…but more importantly, this all occured as I was kicking serious ass in poker, even though the last time I played was in Zach’s room at 4 am 8 months ago…but my hands turned out nicely, much to the disgust of the other players who kept mentioning strange words like “river” and “straight” (usually in succession after I won).
In the preposterous case that you feel my week in BA was just fun and games, I implore you to respect the fact that I actually made it to the MALBA - Museo Americana Latina de Buenos Aires. Basically, this is Buenos Aires’ MOMA. Interestingly enough, the main exhibits showing at the MALBA showcased the work of Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol. Yep, two (north) American artists…not exactly what I was expecting. The Frank Stella exhibit was huge and really interesting, showcasing one of his most famous series of works - the Moby Dick series. Personally, I didn’t love it, but it was quite impressive so I definitely respect it…but I’m just not a huge believer in Modern Art (with the exception of my Catalan brothers Salvador Dali and Joan Miro, of course). The Warhol exhibit, however was pretty interesting - it had absolutely nothing to do with his paintings, just the dozens or so of short films he made later in life. Basically, they had 10 screens in a large room showing projections of some of his famous movies. Whether or not they were “movies,” of course, is up for interpretation; basically, he focused his camera on a person’s face for 15 or so minutes and videotaped them in everday life - eating an apple, sleeping, and receiving oral sex - all of the basic human actions. I have this unsettling feeling that maybe the curators at the MALBA displayed these exhibits because of a common underlying theme…
Anyway, I’m catching the bus back to Cordoba in a few hours (its a 10 hour ride) so I need to run. Yes, it seems the time has arrived when I too will need to seek out employment - for shame. My plan is to get into Cordoba and immediately begin pounding the pavement in hopes of finding a gig or two teaching English, so that I’ll actually be able to stay in this crazy continent until the time that I planned to leave.
Adios,
Adam
P.S. I just posted a bunch of pics from my trip and this past week in BA, so if you’re interested in checking them out shoot me an email and I’ll send you the link

its good to hear that all is well in argentina. keep the updates coming. i have some updates of my own for you. first of all, shaud williams (of ali g fame, of course) is playing for the buffalo bills. i had no idea because he didnt get drafted but apparently they picked him up and he made the team. he was in the sunday night game and they gave him a few carries. he also made the most inexplicably horrible play ive ever seen on the last play of the game where they had to get to the endzone from their own 25 or something and he threw the ball directly forward five yards when they needed to lateral the ball to get down the field. it was like he didnt know the rules. i was screaming out thats my boy shauday. its nice to see an ali g alum making it big. i was praying for a post-game interview where the sideline reporter would call him shauday, tell him that all his fans in austria love his pectoral muscles, and ask him if he is allowed to date any of the other players on the team. never happened. its ok - i was disappointed for a second, then realized that i cant really get mad at espn since i spend more time on that channel than shwag spends on his #1 goat. while im talking about sports i may as well say that i definately deserve consideration for the job at michigan if lloyd carr gets fired. everything that i said about the team in my last post was right (especially the call about using manningham in the redzone like braylon last year on the day before the catch against penn state), so i at least should be able to call the plays or something. yeah i guess id settle for calling the plays. classic 92q moment occured last week, and i know youve been missing 92q so hopefully this will hold you over til you get back. they were running some ad for a promo that they were doing for women who could call in and claim that they deserved this special day or something where they get treated to everything like dinner, massage, ect. at some point in the day they get free drinks at a happy hour, and the reason that they gave on the radio for taking them to happy hour was so that the woman “could go find yoself a man wit a jawb.” then a woman called in and all she could talk about was the happy hour and said the phrase “mmhhmmmm i know thats right” like six times when talking about getting someone who has a job. good stuff. long live pikesville badminton. talk to you later.
dont bane the dillies,
