A bit more about San José

Overall, I like San José, for a capital city that is. It´s very easy to get around, even on local city buses. I took one yesterday and it was easy, i didn´t feel lost at all. There are a lot of green areas and the streets aren´t really dirty like in guate city for example. there´s a nice pedestrian mall with a lot of shops and restaurants and it´s always packed. It´s cooler here too, like a normal summer day in the northeastern U.S., not like jungle heat. I can walk around and be hot, but i don´t have to wipe sweat off of myself and it cools off at night. It´s very pleasant. Now if i could just get these people at the hostel to speak to me in Spanish all the time I´d be set.

I tried to find the wonderful bakery that i went to 10 years ago when i was here, but couldn´t. I´m thinking that maybe that pedestrian mall wasn´t there then because i think it was on that street, but it´s not a street anymore. i could be totally wrong though, that was a long time ago and my first experience out of the country not even really knowing Spanish yet at that time. I´ll have to ask someone about that.

well, i´m off to the airport now to pick up dave. he arrives in 2 hours.

Dear Heather, Did you speak Spanish before you lived in Puerto Rico? Did living there, being immersed in it, make you learn it? Is there any hope for me to learn Spanish by watching one hour of Zorro, la historia apasionada del legendario heroe enmascarado que se viste de negro y protege al pueblo, esta noche?
