Exploring Stockholm

I wake up at 10 the next morning. The weather is nice, some clouds but still sunny ... and brrr cold. The wind goes straight to the bones.

I decide to do a little stroll on the Sodermalarstrand first and keep myself busy with taking some pictures first.

This is Stadshuset (Town Hall). Looks more like a church to me. They hold special events here like the Nobel prize banquet.

This is a view of Riddarsholmen, a small island next to the old part of Gamla Stan. The red church-like building (it's tower can be seen) is called Riddarsholmkyrkan. It was originally built as a church but is now used as the home of armourial glory of the Serafirm knightly order.

This is a view of Gamla Stan. On the left part of the picture the tower of Storkyrkan can be seen. Storkyrkan is Stockholm's cathedral, used for royal crownings. The tower on the right is Tyska Kyrkan.

This is another view of Gamla Stan, a bit more east. Again the tower of Tyska Kyrkan can be seen, as well as bridges connecting Gamla Stan with Sodermalm and Slussen.

I walk from Sodermalarstrand across to Gamla Stan and continue to Skeppsbrokajen, which has many ferry ports. I take this picture of Skeppsholmen, island which is home to Moderna Museet (Modern Museum) and Arhitekturemuseet (Museum of Architecture). This is Birka Princess, a passenger ferry which connects Stockholm to Helsinki (Finland).
