I admit, it's been a while since I updated this blog. But ...... *** DRUM ROLL*** .... I'm going on a trip!!!
I am going to London on February 26th until March 2nd. It's really just an extended weekend trip but I'm excited nevertheless. I haven't been on the road since September and my travel muscles were getting crampy.
This is going to be my 4th trip to the Big Smoke but there are tons of places where I haven't been yet.
I have promised myself to go to British Museum this time, not spend a fortune at Starbucks and take plenty of photos.
Buh bye Slovenia, hello London!!!!

This is a map of all the countries I've visited in Europe -- 14 countries or 27%.
Makes me feel better, I've covered a lot of Europe :)
Let's play a little with this website.
This is a map of European countries I'd still like to visit :
Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria.
That's 12 more countries or 23% (although they're counting Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland as separate countries).
And here's the ultimate wishlist of the world countries :
That would make 78 countries or 34%.

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I started to have THE ITCH to travel for quite a bit lately.
I love my job, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get any time off right now or in about a month. Having a workaholic for your boss is not the greatest thing because he expects the same ethusiasm from everyone else. Like for example, he comes to the office on weekends, holidays, sometimes stays up to 12 hours a day and generally driving everyone crazy with his presence. He's a good boss, always up to a good debate, quite well-travelled and cosmopolitan, but sometimes I just wish he'd give us a freaking break.
That said, I still have the itch. I am longing to get the pack from under my bed, book a flight and go some place outside boring old Slovenia. Some place nice and warm. I spoke to my team leader today and she opened up a possibility for a prolonged weekend off sometime in February, which would be VERY nice right now but we'll see.
Actually late February could be perfect. I have an old debt to pay off with January paycheck, so I wouldn't have enough money this month. BUT 2 months also gives me a good chance of finally persuading my bank to grant me a credit card and it's not too far away ... Hehe, I'm already getting warmed up to the idea.
Just need to find a destination ... Maybe still Portugal?

This is our company's official Christmas card photo. Do I need to comment? I don't think so. To my defense, we HAD to do it.

Thank God all this Holiday Nonsense is now over. Let's go back to normal, people!!!
And more Vienna ...

Vienna's City Hall at night. In front of the building is the biggest Christmas market in Vienna, unfortunately with too many stands that sell just junk or booze.
Continuing photos from the trip to Vienna ...

Roman ruins in front of Hofburg.

Downtown Vienna, crowded street even on a Sunday midday.

Stephansdom.
I'm adding a few photos taken during a one-day trip to Vienna, Austria on December 5th '04.
This one was taken at a gas station (actually at its playground) in Loipersdorf, about an hour before Vienna. This is my travel companion Jasna, reviving some of her childhood memories.

"Christkindlmarkt" (Christmas market) in front of castle Schönnbrunn. Lots of punch and "Glühwein" flowing around there.

Pigeons in Schönnbrunn park. Love this picture.

Me in front of the Neptune fontaine, Schönnbrunn park.

Entrance to Hofburg.
Adding some nice photos I have lying around :

This is my sister (left) and me at my grandma's in Croatia. It was cold, hence the red faces :) We took the picture in the middle of a field, to get a "rural" feeling. :D My sister is always so annoyed because she gets a Rudolph nose in the cold.

Another one of my sister, taken in Croatia.

This is sunset over Pohorje in my hometown. Pohorje in a group of hills measuring from 1000m - 1500m in height and has 3 major and a few smaller ski resorts. Great hiking in the summer.

This is me on a mid November cycling tour. It was extremely windy and as you can see my hair was all over the place. We were cycling in opposite direction of the wind and it was like trying to cycle in water. My thigh muscles were killing me the next day.

This is a tiny lake just outside the town I live in. The lake is called Transom, after a former factory that used to operate nearby. It doesn't show in the photo but there was a major storm rolling in at the time. My friend and I barely made it home before it started raining heavily

This is my baby, oops, my cat.
