September 26, 2003T-Minus 23 Days... Back to the Doctor
Yes, I know I've been a blog slacker, but there really isn't much to say. (I'm still HOME you know.) The past couple of weeks, I really haven't been planning the trip so much; it's been a lot more of taking care of unfinished business before I leave -- freelance jobs, prepping my car for sale, cleaning, etc. That's not to say I have ignored trip planning altogether.... I went to back to my travel medicine doctor for my follow-up Hep B shot yesterday. With so many patients, I had to remind him exactly who I was: "I'm the guy who's going around the world for sixteen months." "You know 'Around the World' has a double-meaning," Dr. Bellomo said. "Your trip, or the other way..." "Huh?" "You know, when you get a woman to give you oral and anal and..." He stopped when I just gave him this weird look. "What? You're over 18, aren't you? Anyway..." I got my follow up Hep B shot, and then got my WHO forms signed and stamped. I asked him about a traveler's recommendation to bring a syringe just in case I'd need anti-venom shots or something on the road since many lesser developed countries may have questionable needles. He denied me a spare syringe saying it'd get both of us in trouble...but on the up side, he gave me a whole free sample case of the antibiotic Cipro, since the Bayer representative was there stocking up anyway. After my visit, I ordered my malaria medicine online from Canada (where drugs are 50% cheaper). Anyway, I promise the blog will get more exciting once the trip begins October 20th. In the meantime, I'm still just buying little things here and there to bring, most of it involving camera equipment. (Yes, I'm bringing a video camera!) Special thanks goes out to Nicole Judice for pledging The Global Trip 2004 Pledge Drive! (She's guaranteed a postcard!) If you enjoy this daily travel blog, please post a comment! Give me suggestions, send me on missions, let me know how things are going back home in the USA. Knowing that I have an audience will only force me to make this blog more entertaining as the days go by. Donīt forget to bookmark it and let a friend know! Comments
Just showed my mum the slides on would you, it took some time to download and play but she loved it... Now if you ever need to plonk yourself at home in India, all you need to do is bring some wildlife snaps... Travel soon, cant wait for this blog to get more exciting Posted by: Dusty on September 27, 2003 01:16 PMYou're doctor sounds like a freak! He scares me. Posted by: Dtella on September 30, 2003 01:13 PMYay! I'm so excited you're bringing your camera! And Dtella is right, your doc's freaky deaky. Oh and I know u didn't write it in this blog but CONGRATS on your getting your book published! Can't wait to read it. Posted by: Rina on October 2, 2003 03:34 PMIt's not my Antarctica book; it's a short story in an anthology...which is still kinda cool. As for my Antarctica book, I think I've matured over the year as a writer to know and understand why it isn't a sellable book (or maybe I'm just sick of reading it too many times). However, when available, it will be available as a self-publish on-demand book from CafePress.com. Posted by: eeyartee on October 2, 2003 04:43 PMI think your "Would You" videos are absolutely amazing! I could watch them over and over again. :) Posted by: Risa on October 5, 2003 03:43 PMGood point! |
