Thailand
Well - bugger me - what a place. They call Thailand the ‘Land of Smiles’ and it doesn’t take long to appreciate why. I have been in Chang Mai in the mountainous north of Thailand for 2 weeks. This place is well south of the tropic of cancer so it has a beautiful tropical climate and lush jungle like vegetation. I have my own double room for the first time in ages and it only costs me 1.50gbp To rent a mint motorbike for the day costs 2gbp and I have had one for a while and done much exploring in and around this city which I have falling in love with. The only problem is that beer is expensive here, especially when compared to China.
I have been having sensuos 1 hour oil massages at 3gbp per go which are fantastic. I have seen ladyboys in the flesh for the first time (it is true that they are beautiful and very difficult to tell). I have been to one of them gogo bar things where very talented ladies shoot darts out of their ‘area’ and burst balloons on the ceiling. The women here are beautiful and many of them are on the game. They have a saying: ‘No money, no honey’ and from what I hear it is very true - they can consume your holiday money faster than The Toon and England leak goals (Robinson man - eh?).
There is much partying to be done here but like I say the beer is a touch pricey and I think I have done a bit too much of it for my own good. There are amazing Buddhist temples everywhere and only yesterday the King of Thailand (who is highly highly respected by the Thai people) drove past me when I was on my scooter! Oh I appear to have started smoking again - shit! I might come and live in Thailand in the future and try and find a job here - I don’t quite really know what the future holds for me. Oh yeah - there are many Falangs (foreigners) here so it all feels a bit weird after China where there are few Westerners. Anyway, I’m off for a pint of Singha beer so I must dash and I hope you are well and living the dream which is your life.
