Yes we need to act now. It appears that what damage we do today takes about 30 years before it has a profound effect on the climate so we have 30 more years of "built in" climate change to come. If we continue to carry on as normal then we may be past the tipping point in the next 20 years or so. When that time comes we are too late to avoid massive climate shifts that will ensure that future generations have a much harder time with harsh weather, storms, hurricanes, tsunamis and sea level rise than we have had to endure.
